Not sure if this is the correct forum; hoping for some direction....
In the last week, I have downloaded two of the free Paizo PDF files. (The PFS introductory stuff and the Iron Gods player reference.)
However, neither one of them is remotely useable. The background color is so dark that over 50% of the document is illegible simply from not being able to differentiate the black text from the background. Additionally, on several other portions, there are patterns and designs that presumably were intended for background, but end up overlaying the text, making that section unreadable. The file is write-protected, so I can't edit anything out to make it easier to read, and I haven't been able to successfully open it with another program.
I've already sent an e-mail to Paizo asking for assistance in reading the products, but I have not yet received an answer.
Any suggestions? At this point, I'd be content with a text version with no graphics whatsoever.

Assuming that you are on a Windows PC there are at least three that I know of and use and I am sure that there are more:
1) Adobe Reader
2) Foxit Reader
3) Nitro Reader
As usual, read each page carefully. Lots of download pages want to install other stuff besides the product you are interested in.
The one I normally use is Foxit and other than one Paizo PDF it works great (and that one PDF works 90% of the time). Nitro is my backup and Adobe is there just in case there is a really weird one.

Firefox also has a built in PDF reader that works quite well with the Paizo PDFs... I use this in addition to Foxit as well.

While you may have great experiences with other PDF viewer, because we have an all-Adobe workflow, Adobe Reader is the only one that we can officially support. That is to say, if somebody informs us of a noteworthy display issue with a particular PDF using a recent version of Reader, we will likely be able to solve it; if they're using another PDF viewer, we may be unable to solve the issue.
