Air Element Spell lists: which one is valid?

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

Hello I have a quick question

I have a PFS Elemental: Air specialist wizard. In the APG I have found the list of Elemental Air spells.

I also have Blood of the Elements. There is a list of Air Elemental spells on the back cover of the supplement.

If I find an Air elemental spell, that is on the Wizard's spell list on the back page of the Blood of Elements, but isn't on the elemental spell list in the APG, can my wizard, after learning and scribing one of these spells, can my wizard prepare one of these new spells in his Air Elemental school specialty slot? For that Matter, How about the Aggressive Thunder Cloud spell from the ACG?

Thank you

Nope. The AP lists the spells of the Air Elementalist school. Blood of Elements list spells that are Air type. They are not the same thing.

As the base schools get new spells every time a new book comes out, in a home game you can always ask your GM to add it to the school list, it wouldn't be an unreasonable house rule. But RAW it's not on there. In PFS your out of luck.

(unless there is a sidebar I've missed in BotE that adds those spells to the elementalist school list in which case your golden)

Thank you for taking the time to answer Dragon Hunterq.

Silver Crusade

Dragon HunterQ, I took a look through the core rule book, and re read the section on the Wizard Specialization school and I found this interesting bit of text.

“specialist wizards receive an additional spell slot of each spell level he can cast, from 1st on up. Each day, a wizard can prepare a spell from his specialty school in that slot. This spell must be in the wizard’s spellbook” Page 79 of the Core Rule book.

I have been looking through the ACG. I noticed the spell Repair Undead. It is a Necromancy spell.
If this spell is in a Necromancer's Spell book, he can memorize this spell in his school specialty spell slot. The ACG was published years after the Core rule book.

So, I think I can memorize Air elemental spells that are on the Wizard's spell list and is in my character's spell book, that have been published after the APG in my air elemental wizard's extra speciality school spell slot.

Thank you

The problem is the Air "School" is not a real school. The new spells are not listed as Air School/Evocation School or whatever the school and element may be.

Home game, yes. Your GM is fully capable to give you the go ahead.

PFS, no. Only the spells listed as "Air School" in APG are Air School.

This is true. It's also very sad. It'd be nice for them to do a little blog update on the spell lists or add all of the elemental spells to the appropriate elementalist lists.

Yes, the 'core' specialisations all get new goodies, as every new spell by default belongs to one of those core schools. Unfortunately the same thing does not happen with elemental school. If you look closely at the elemental school spells not all of the 'air school' spells are 'Air' type spells, not all of the 'earth school' spells are 'earth' type etc. This means that just having he elemental type isn't the sole criterion for belonging to that school. So you can't just assume that you can add every elemental spell to the respective list.

I've rambled, but I hope that makes sense.

On the positive side, the same is true of your opposition school. You don't have to worry about paying the 2-slot cost for any new "earthy" spells.
