Multiclassing level 1 HD

Rules Questions

When multiclassing, at level one of the selected class, do I get full HD of that class added to my HP? or do I have to roll the dice for that class. as an example, I'm a level 5 rouge which has 15 HP and I multiclass barbarian which HD is 1d12 do I get 15 + 12 = 27 or if I have to roll dice 1d12 and get 4 it ends up 15 + 4 = 19?

Scarab Sages

Whatever the rules of your campaign say. If you normally get full HD at first level, and roll at each new level, then you must roll. You are only at character level 1 once, regardless of what your new class level may be.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You have to roll for any level beyond the first level for your character. Ie: if you are a 5th level Rogue and you take a level in Barbarian you roll a d12 to determine your hps.

BTW, what is a level 5 rouge? Some form of monstrous facial makeup? Perhaps an Ooze? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

You would normally roll for health after level one (so you would roll the d12 and add it to your health pool).

Very helpful, thank you very much. Gauss sorry I mispelled, as obvious as it is, english is not my native language.

torchlike, rogue being turned into rouge is a common enough mispelling that I often have to resist making jokes about. Don't worry about it. :)

By RAW, a rouge is a red wine. So he's probably explaining the character was an alcoholic, and now he's starting a alcohol-free career...

For the real question : when you multiclass, you don't have the same benefits as when you take your 1st character level.
