Getting new players off the ground

Okay so we have a group and have played a scenario. Specifically we have completed the First Steps Part:1. Now we have come to the chronicling section of the end. This is where we are all pretty lost. How is it that we get our society numbers and record this adventure? Sorry about these "dumb" questions haha. Just trying to get this group going with no real patriarch to teach us the master ways of the finding of paths. Thank you in advance fellow finders of paths.

I've never organized anything, but I got my own number by signing up on the web site.

Here is the GM resource page on this site. It has useful downloads, and a way to contact the Regional Coordinator (Venture Officer) in your area. They can help you with questions.

Welcome to the campaign, Brod! Here's how you handle the end-of-adventure stuff:

1) Have everybody register for an account on paizo.com. Have them go to the Pathfinder Society part of the site, then click on My Pathfinder Society. They'll get assigned a number there. PFS numbers are usually a 6-digit number, followed by a dash, then a single digit number. For example, my first character is 27523-1 (I joined a bit earlier.) The number before the dash indicates the player, the number after the dash indicates which character you're playing.

2) Once you have everybody's number, get the chronicle from the end of the adventure. Print off a copy for each character. The GM will need to fill in all of the shaded bits. You'll notice that there's an event code - the GM will need to start an event under the second tab of the My Pathfinder Society page. Name your event, and you'll get a number for that. Unless the PCs screwed something up, they'll likely be getting full gold and 2 prestige. Remember, the GM gets a chronicle too!

3) Finally, take down everybody's PFS numbers and put the event into the event. To do this, go to the session you created under My Pathfinder Society and click report.

4) Get ready for your next game! Your PCs likely don't have enough fame to buy much right now, but you can look at the Guide's list of always-available items for some ideas of where your gold should go.

5) If you want to find other PFS players in your area or get some support, I'd recommend getting in touch with your local Venture-Captain. Which state are you in?

Good stuff DruidBrod! Hope your game was a blast. Here's some quick instructions to get you going.

Here are some more detailed instructions if needed.

Detailed instructions:

1. After making an account on paizo.com, like you did, everyone will need to click on the "My Pathfinder Society" link at the top. This should link you to it.

2. Click the option that says "I need a PFS #" or something similar. It should take you to the next page where it displays your PFS number. It will be a 6 digit number.

3. That 6 digit number is your PFS number. Older players have lower numbers. Mine is 20416. Your character number is reported as a "-N" after your PFS number, where "N" is whichever character it is. So your first character is -01, the second is -02, etc. So for me, my first character is 20416-01.

4. To report a completed game, have the GM log onto their Paizo account and click on "My Pathfinder Society." Have them click on the "GM/Event Coordinator" tab. Under "Create New Event" click "Create Your Event."

5. On the new event form, include an event name, like "PFS at Joe's place," the date you played on, and check whatever scenario you played. Then click "Save Changes."

6. The next screen will show you the PFS event you created, along with an event number. This is a 5 digit number. Jot this down somewhere. Click "Report" on the right side.

7. This is the reporting screen. Fill in the info as needed. Put in the GM PFS number, all the players and their PFS numbers, and the amount of prestige earned. You will also be able to input the players factions and what "scenario missions" need to be checked off. Older scenarios do not have specific scenario missions.

8. Print off the chronicle sheet at the end of the scenario you played. Print out one for each player and one for the GM. Have the GM fill in the information: the event number (which you recorded earlier), the date you played, and have them sign and initial as needed. Refer to the Guide to Organized Play for detailed info on how to do this part.

9. Keep your filled out chronicle sheet as evidence that you've completed a scenario. As you continue to play PFS, it's important that you keep these chronicles. They are a record of your loot, experience, and which specific games you have participated in. Sometimes, specific sheets come up in later games (like if you play a two-part scenario).

That's it!
