One of the guys in our group came up with a really awesome character concept: a viking fighter that uses swashbuckler deeds with his battleaxe. Now, besides 1st level deeds, can the Viking get higher level deeds any way aside from multiclassing? I was taking a look, and while him getting rage, rage powers, come and get me, opportune parry is awesome, the idea of also getting something like precise strike is pretty badass. Outside of multiclassing is there any way to get the 3rd level swashbuckler deed?

Ok, dammit. So he'll still need slashing grave anyway for his battleaxe but he won't be able to use precise strike. That is understandable but it still sucks all the same.
At least he's not limited to bucklers for a shield though. I believe panache doesn't care if you use a shield or not, just a light or 1 handed piercing weapon. Meh, he'll still probably do a ton of damage.

Although combining it with the Seize Advantage feat might be worthwhile.
They should really consider switching to a weapon with with a wider crit range than an axe though if they want to use opportune parry & riposte more than once per day.
And they also would be wasting a feat on slashing grace since I'm assuming they are not dex based.
If they want a more "viking" weapon, then a spear, shortsword, or morningstar are all thematic and work without slashing grace.

No, Seize Advantage. It allows you to use a foe's own damage bonus against it on a riposte.
Although, looking at it closer, it's a little too situational for the feat cost.
Nevermind :p

Don't forget, make the shield spiked. It changes the damage to piercing, allow panache regeneration on shield bash attacks as well.
And if they are a half-orc from Belkzen, get the Toothy Trait. A bite attack is piercing, so while it's not going to do much damage, it's a free attack that can regain panache on a crit.

You know, you could just play a Dwarf Swashbuckler, and use their special favored class bonus to use a battleaxe as a piercing weapon for all your Swashbuckler stuff.
That'snot what the Dwarf FCB does. Slashing Grace is what does this. The Dwarf FCB just ups your damage with picks and axes (the latter only if you already posses Slashing Grace).
That said, playing a Swashbuckler (or better yet, Daring Champion Cavalier), grabbing Slashing Grace for the Battle Axe, use that, a buckler, and a chain shirt, and you can make makes a hell of an amusing and effective viking build. With Daring Champion you can even 'rage' by using your Challenge.
you're not optimal as compared to the guy who goes Rapier or Cutlass instead, but still very solid.

Weird. I looked at them again, and the FCB says it lets you use the battleaxe and handaxe as one-handed piercing weapons if you have Slashing Grace, even though Slashing Grace already lets you do that. I guess we're both right.

Basically, it gives you Slashing Grace in Two or Three weapons for the price of one.
