Hi, everyone!
I'm a newcomer to Paizo's forums and to the RPGSS contest, but it's thrilling to comb through the contest's archives and see the incredible work that's been created in years past. The writer, designer-in-his-head, and once-avid D&D 3.5/PF player is very happy to see that this contest exists! It was an incredibly pleasant surprise to see the announcements that ENWorld and Jessica Price made the other night.
Right now, I'm devouring all the Pathfinder and RPGSS material I can get my hands on to get myself up-to-date before the Round 1 deadline.
It's great to be here—I wish us all the best of luck!

What happens if you both make the Top 32? I feel like there could be trouble.
I really don't see that happening, despite all commentary to the contrary. I entered because I finally had something that I felt like Pathfinder needed, but I'm not sure it's "superstar", but if I'm going to go to the effort of writing it, I'm going to submit it.
Should the unexpected happen and Andrew get in without me, well, he falls asleep on the couch all the time anyway. ;-)

They'll learn to forage in the wilderness. I hope your kids put ranks in Survival!

The Good News: No matter what you can get something out of this, be it critiques or becoming a part of an awesome community that communicates on some level and does this year round.
The Bad News: only 32 out of roughly 1,000 and the field gets better every year. I know several of these folk already work for various 3PPs as freelancers or write in some capacity.
The Ugly News: even if you win being a freelancer is not a glamorous high paying job. Nor is winning Superstar a permanent gig with Paizo, it is however one of the best ways yo get your foot in the door and even placing in the contest is an excellent accomplishment.

We wish, they don't even like it when gnats get in the house. They'd be doomed if left in the wilderness or backyard for too long.

Now that I've carelessly thread jacked, let me say as a long time listener, first time entrant, RPGSS is a really special and exciting time on the Paizo boards. People who don't haunt the other boards come to watch and participate and it is my understanding that some of the "regulars" of the boards even take notice. It's like a game designers virtual convention. We get together, screw around, joke about filigree and previous years' highs and lows. Entering isn't a necessary, but you do get a different perspective for having done so.
I swore I would *never* enter RPGSS because I didn't want to win. Honestly, I just didn't have a good idea for a wondrous item. The twist in Round 1 was all it took. I found that I did have a non-wondrous item I did want to create and share, so I did. Then I realized if I was going to enter, then by goodness, I would enter to win. I'm not sure I have what it takes to be a SuperStar, but at this point we're all Schrodinger winners and we'll get to open the box together.

I may have to throw my hat in the ring again this year. (Spoiler: My entry would not be an actual hat.)
While it is at least one of the item types allowed this year, I would also recommend against a ring into which you can throw hats.

I've noticed that Mr. Seifter can't resist making a Joke of Opportunity. Happened to me once in a most unexpected place, the Website Feedback forum.

He must have taken Comedy Reflexes, otherwise you can only make one Joke of Opportunity per thread.

Part-time pdf publisher ought to be fine. You should definitely give it a go!
