Scatter guns vs. mirror image

Rules Questions

Had an issue arise with my gunslinger and a necromancer with mirror image cast on him.
I understand that scatter ignore mirror image'"Effects that grant concealment, such as fog or smoke, or the blur, invisibility, or mirror image spells, do not foil a scatter attack"

My question is would a scatter weapon destroy the figments as well?

Scatter is an area effect and therefore doesn't destroy any figments

Even though it requires an attack roll on each creature in the area? Every thing in the spell description says spells or effects, say nothing about weapon attacks. Or is it because the caster is taking damage there for the figments don't it just kinda seems weird to me

Yeah this is a tough one that's come up before. Scatterguns are weird. Has the same problem with Swarms.
This could seriously go either way, I personally would give preference to the scattergun, mainly because non-casters need nice things too and scatterguns themselves need some love. So yeah, I'd say a scattergun is instant anti-mirror image.

Roll one attack against the target and then have all images react accordingly.

Sovereign Court

The shotgun is why no one cast mirror image anymore ;)

I think this is the right of it.

Reading the rules from Ultimate Combat...

... or it can make a scattering shot, attacking all creatures within a cone... When a scatter weapon attacks all creatures within a cone, it makes a separate attack roll against each creature within the cone. Each attack roll takes a –2 penalty, ... Effects that grant concealment, such as fog or smoke, or the blur, invisibility, or mirror image spells, do not foil a scatter attack...

Weapon fires.
Not effected by Mirror Image.
Attacks all creatures.
The Images are not creatures.*
Thus Mirror Images are not effected by the attack.
If caster of Mirror Image is hit Images react accordingly.

* This is the only spot I could see this being argued, if someone has a RAW source that would define Mirror Images as creatures. I do not know of one and do not think they are.

Thanks for the help guys, you helped clear things up. As far as RAW goes I would have to agree with ahoulderpatch. Still doesn't make sense physically to me but not everything in pathfinder/3.5 does. But thanks to everyone who responded
