Is we be goblins (1) repeatable for first level characters?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

So I'm fairly new to PFS, having played once last year at a convention and then picking it up this year in August. That game I played last year? We be goblins. None of my new PFS friends here have played it before, so I downloaded the module and read through it to prep, made the map, all that and prepared for my first outing as a PFS GM. But then I hit a snag.

So a BUNCH of people on the internet (and my group) seem to think that We be Goblins (not We be Goblins too) is a repeatable adventure if you apply the credit to first level characters. However, under the additional PFS rules for We Be Goblins it has this to say:

Quote:

As always, each player may receive credit for each module

once as a player and once as a GM in either order.

which pretty blatantly says each person can do it only once. Has there been an errata? Which way does it go? Who is right, the sheet or the internet. Given the Internet's track record, I'm going with the sheet, but given that I've heard stories that We Be Goblins used to be worth 3 XP and 4 Prestige though a loophole, I don't know what to think.

There are two exceptions to these rules. All Tier 1 scenarios

and Tier 1–2 sanctioned modules are available for unlimited
replay with a 1st-level character for credit. The sanctioned
modules may also be played with a 2nd-level character
once for credit. GMs may receive another Chronicle sheet
each time they run one of the Tier 1 scenarios or Tier 1–2
sanctioned modules, but may only apply a Chronicle sheet
to one 2nd-level character per adventure.

We Be Goblins! is a tier 1-2 module, so it is replayable by level 1 characters and playable for level 2 credit.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Man, PFS is fun, but it can get REALLY complicated with some of the rules (I'm looking at you, race rules.)

The main thing to remember about We Be Goblins!, though, is that it is only playable for PFS credit with the provided goblin pregens.

The credit can be applied to first level PCs, or, once, to a second level PC, from either side of the screen. It is one of the few exceptions to the "pregen credit cannot be applied to a PC of the same or higher level, unless the pregen is first level, in which case the credit can be applied to a first level PC."

Oh, and TPKs (Total Party Kills) or even pregen death, in We Be Goblins!, does not cause the associated PC to die.

While it can be earned multiple times, it cannot be applied to a character who has already got a "We be Goblins" (whether that chronicle was earned as a a player or a GM)

The *player* can replay it, with a different first level PC every time. The same PC can never play a scenario twice for credit, ever.

Huh. Scott, does that mean you can only play We Be Goblins! 4 times, once with each pregen; or is it just referring to applying credit for it only once to each possible legal PFS PC, so you could apply the credit, no matter which pregen(s) you played, to, say, 5 different PCs if you played it 5 times, even if you played it with Chuffy each time?

Edit: Would that also limit the number of times you could gain credit from the Silverhex Chronicles to the number of different pregens, and you could only play (for credit) each quest segment once with each pregen?

Once per PC you have. So once for your ###-1, once for your -2,... You can use the same pregen every time if you want.

That's the important thing to note - too many people use the words "replay with a 1st-level character" which, as written, implies that a given PC (i.e., one character) can replay it multiple times. I had to ask several local/con GMs for clarification, just to be sure I understood it correctly. And all too often they used those same words.

It can make understanding these rules difficult for a PFS n00b.

Game on!
