Beating DR as a ranger (archer)

Liberty's Edge

Is there actually a way to do this? Best as I can tell Rangers are just SOL about DR.

Clustered Shots. Archers don't even begin to give a f$&& about DR.

And if your GM does not allow that feat increase your enhancement bonus and use composite bows.

Yeah, it's all about clustered shots.

Before you get clustered shots, Weapon Blanches. It's very cheap to make your arrows count as x material.

Which DR?

A +1 composite longbow, some cold iron arrows with silver weapon blanch (22 gp for 20, count as both cold iron and silver for penetrating DR), and some durable adamantine arrows (61 gp each, can be reused) will let an archer ranger penetrate most DR. Make some of the arrows blunt versions and you can penetrate DR x/bludgeoning (skeletons). Align weapon from a friendly caster can get you through DR x/alignment.

Once you can afford to add holy (assuming a typical campaign where the majority of foes are evil), the only DR that you normally need to worry about is DR x/slashing and DR x/- (and DR x/epic, but that doesn't show up too often, anyway).
