Multiclass Brawler taking improved TWF as a feat to enhance flurry

Rules Questions

Say for some reason I decide multiclassing a brawler is a good idea.

But I never intend to take more than a handful of level so the brawlers flurry will never get to level 8.

Could I in theory take the improved two weapon fighting feat as a general feat choice to improve the Brawlers flurry to include an extra attack ? possibly by using martial flexibility to grab it temporarily instead of taking it as a feat ?

Or does this fall down because its a works like rather than having the TWF feat ?

The brawler's flurry rules are different, and much simpler, than the monk flurry rules. The brawler is simply treated as having TWF when flurrying. This would mean that ITWF would stack with it... except that you don't have the TWF feat to allow you to take ITWF. If you can get it some other way, such as with a ranger's bonus feats that ignore prerequisites, then you can use it.

Yes, you qualify. See this post by Jason Bulmahn.

If this was in the playtest forum, why didn't this make it into the final release (I ask as I realize there are even still typos that were pointed out that didn't get fixed for release...)?

I would say it did make it into the final release. The relevant text in the final print is identical to the text in the 2nd playtest document. It states the brawler "has" the feat, as opposed to the 1st playtest, which stated you were "treated as having" the feat. I think the developers assumed their intent would be clear from how the ability is worded. From the number of times the question has come up in the forums, it could use an FAQ.
