I do have Big Eyes, Small Mouth d20, so could try that although it looks complicated.If she's a big anime fan, then perhaps an RPG that is anime/manga based would be a better gateway drug.
Big Eyes, Small Mouth would be my suggestion, but there are others like Maid, Tenra Bansho Zero, or OVA.
If you think BESM d20 is too daunting (I've never looked at it) maybe introduce the rules-lite versions to her- 2nd and 3rd ed. BESM uses the Tri-Stat system and can be purchased on the RPGNow site. Very easy but also very comprehensive game rules. Just a suggestion.
You just described my marriage. :PFirst off I would make sure to be with a girlfriend/wife significant other who is accepting of the hobby. Too often I hear horror stories of those in the hobby who get in a relationship keep gaming a secret with bad results. They are afraid of being alone and keep their hobby secret. I know one player who kept it hidden from his girlfriend now wife who dislikes his hobby. He has to always make a case as to why he plays the hobby as she does not think it's a worthwhile hobby. The "if I don't like your hobby then you should not be doing it" kind of person.
Or at the very least willing to tolerate your hobby. Otherwise it's going to be a waste of time even introducing a significant other to the hobby. And no tricking her or she is not a good idea. Check to see if their is some interest. If not don't push the issue. Sometimes people don't like one hobbies and vice versa.
That's too bad. I introduced my wife to Pathfinder and she plays a flame oracle in our Jade Regent campaign and a half-elf hunter in our homebrew campaign. :)

I'd just like to point out that the Tri-Stat versions are NOT, as it would be possible to interpret Calex's post, beginner versions / preludes to the d20 edition. Tri-Stat is how BESM is meant to be played. The d20 version came out in the glut of "____ d20", when Monte Cook had made it his personal goal kill all other systems.

It all depends on the person. i know of two others whose girlfriend/wife don't mind the hobby.
I don't understand the logic behind being with someone whose interests one does not like. I can understand being uninterested in a hobby. It's as if "well maybe I can change him/her once the relationship gets serious". Or something along those lines. It usually ends up in a break up. Nothing changing or being in a miserable relationship. I rather be single the rest of my life then have to argue to do a hobby. If the person I'm with does not like or want to understand my interests or hobbies. My response is "would you prefer I go to the bar with the guys , get drunk then to a strip joint". Life is too short spent with intolerent people imo.
Almost as bad as the story that I was told by the guy who buys used gaming at the lgs whose girlfriend did not approve of his gaming or the people he gamed with. Then would sell his rpgs without asking "for his own good".

I agree with this. Tri-Stat is spiritually closer to a rules-lite GURPS or Hero system, with very simple to master game mechanics.
