in the coming months i will be returning home to continue my campaign. one of my players has come from damphir to a full vampire, by a dark ritual with the aid of another vampire in a need for power to avenge his destroyed family. the character is being played to believe hes going to still think and act human and be able to resist his bloody thirst, the player is hoping that eventually he will succumb to the darkness and act as a true vampire would. in an effort to aid him with this for story and flavor, im attempting to come up with scenarios and metaphorical questions to warp his perception of the world around him eventually killing people like rodents and the like. problem being is im not able to come up with much besides the standard obstacles, i need help finding something different or out of the box. any help is appreciated

"The road to Hell is paved with good intentions". Oh but wait he didn't have good intentions, he is out for revenge. In other words the monster doesn't see a monster, play off of that as much as you can. The darker or more seasoned villains will know that he is already well on his decent and all they need to do is just keep tempting or pushing him towards his nature/path he is pursuing of his own free will.
As for how a true vampire acts... In this settin I laugh at them. They pretend to be masters of whatever but really they nothing more than intelligent beasts. They have to feed off the weak in a controlled environment (night) or powerful forces like clergymen, more powerful undead (liches), or whatever will kill them. They say they have great patience towards their goals but devils laugh at this as undead may not even a century with all that hunts them. But a devil is faced with destruction or remaking by those infinitely more powerful than themselves until the day it dies and their plans last until Asmodeous ultimately rules all creation.
Btottom line: vampires mentality is barely controlled megalomania with respectable amounts of power but not enough to be truly mighty compared to the true horrors. Pride is the mentality of vampires and is their greatest strength and weakness. Catering to an enemies pride is how most vampires have attained victory. Have you ever heard of the great vampire war of X? No because they prey on weak or weak minded.
