So, I'm playing a trox. Specifically, a trox magus. He and his clan were have dwarves as patrons, as they rescued his clan from duergar long ago. Back on point, I'm buying armor. For a large, the price is doubled. For a non-humanoid, it's quadrupled. Now, trox are monstrous humanoids. Do they technically count under humanoid, or do I have to pay 4 times as much?
This is not me trying to start any rules lawyering arguements, it's just about a guy trying to save some money. On what could be a technicality.

Depends on your GM's interpretation of the equipment rules, I'm afraid. It's almost certainly rules-as-intended that they were using humanoid in its standard English sense - head on top, two limbs to a side, digits on the ends of the limbs, etc. On the other hand they use that word as a definite technical term by the time you get to the Spells chapter, so a rules-as-written argument could be made that they'd have used a different word if they hadn't specifically meant the creature type 'Humanoid'.
So ask your GM, and make sure the ruling is noted in house rules so it stays consistent.

While Lincoln hills is correct in that the decision is ultimately your DM's, judging from the picture found on 234 of the advanced race guide, the Trox personifies "non-humanoid" in so much that double seems reasonable. Armor that: 1. stays on while burrowed while not permitting excessive earthen buildup 2.that also fits on grabbing appendages is likely costly to manufacture and fit; imagine making four little pauldrons for the grabby hands, or trying to cover the burrowing back plating in the picture. Even if you left the grabby hands out, the back plates are what kills the pricing; I'd say that double normal is generous.
The Gargoyle, on the other hand, I would give the benefit of the doubt; there is certainly a cost associated with allowing wings through armor, but it is not a double kind of cost.
If the race's concept was player, and not Piazo, based, there would be more of a call to make, but if you accept Illustrations as RAW, there's little hope I'm afraid; unless your DM just cuts you a break, which would be nice.

Well, on the one hand, I am using a gm-homebrewed racial archetype that gets rid of grabbing appendages. On the other, still have those backplates. So, yeah.
Well, thanks guys. My GM already said I would probably have to pay x4, but he's more than fine with me asking things like this, just in case. He'll let me get away with a lot, but unless sanctioned by the general public of the almighty rules forums, I don't get it all.
Above comment is not meant to sound condecending. That was me legitimitally giving lots of cred to everyone on the forums. Who says theres no wisdom from strangers on the internet? It averages to about 16 around here.
