Clarification about a FAQ

Rules Questions

Hello.

I've recently read this FAQ from the Paizo site:

FAQ wrote:

Prestige Classes and Spellcasters: Does a wizard (or other character that uses a spellbook), receive bonus spells to add to his spellbook when he gains a level in a prestige class that grants an increase to spellcasting?

No. The increase to his spellcasting level does not grant any other benefits, except for spells per day, spells known (for spontaneous casters), and an increase to his overall caster level. He must spend time and gold to add new spells to his spellbook.

So, if i'm right, let's say we have a 2nd level Wizard wich take (in place of his 3rd level) a level in a Prestige Class wich grants him a "+1 Level of Existing Class" for his "Spells per Day".

Reaching 3rd level the Wizard will be able to cast one level 2 spell thanks to this advancment, but, since the bonus given by the PrC doesn't give him any new spell, he must found a spellbook of someone else and copy a level 2 spell?

While a Sorcerer will be able to cast a level 2 spell (not at level 3 obviously) because he is a spontaneus caster?

Thanks in advance.

You have it right. You don't need to actually find a full spell book though, you can copy from a scroll.

Thanks a lot.

Also, wizards can copy spells before they can use them, by finding and paying the costs. Assuming they can pass the checks to understand it.

Yes that is correct.
