I think this is very usefull: Quick Start Guide
It does give you nice step by step directions for what trainers to visit and which feats to buy when you want to make a fighter, wizard etc.

My suggestions, assuming you want a generalist adventurer instead of a highly specialized crafter:
Get all four gathering skills level 1: Forester, Miner, Scavenger, Dowser. That way you can harvest any basic nodes you come across.
Pick an armor type, train an armor feat to level 1 that matches that type. Heavy armor currently has many advantages, and few drawbacks, so I'd recommend Crusader, Unbreakable or Dragoon.
Pick a ranged weapon and a melee weapon, train level 1 in 4-5 attack feats for that weapon.
If you have access to basic weapons from the AH or a friend, pick weapons that you like. If you only have access to the tutorial gear, you'll end up with shortbow and club.
If you want to be a wizard, instead train 4-5 wand attack feats.
Clerics right now are better off using melee weapons, unless you are traveling with a group and want to be a buffer. Fighting with the clerical focus is possible, but difficult compared to the other roles.
The first few ranks of stealth are cheap and helpful for avoiding NPCs, train them.
Personally, I wouldn't train any refining or crafting skills with my first 1k exp. I'd wait until I have some materials, or find a recipe and then train just what I need to make use of them.
If you want to be a primary crafter in a specific item type, then research what refining skills feed into your crafting type.
Once I had the four gathering skills and both a ranged and melee attack option, I would go out and do some exploring, killing and gathering.
Get some achievements, see if you find any lucky drops for weapons or recipes before spending more exp.
Something important to note: Rank 2 in the attack feats don't improve your combat stats unless you have a +1 weapon that matches them. So don't waste any exp on rank 2 attacks when all you have is starter gear.

Oh, I forgot:
You also need proficiency feats for the weapons and armor you plan to use, they are cheap XP.
Also, the first ranks of defensive feats are cheap and helpful : iron will, lightning reflexes, great fortitude.
One class feature rank 1 is helpful: either a weapon specialization for a fighter, or a domain / school for cleric / wizards.
Hitpoints is always handy if you have exp left over.
EDIT: Charge rank 1 and Evasion rank 1 as utility feats are good. Get something in as many action bar slots as you can.
This gets more complicated the more I think about it.
Basically, get lots of rank 1 feats, that will help you more than a few rank 2 feats until you get better gear.

I have a guide HERE.
It might be slightly outdated in pricing (since they reduced prices for somethings), but it is a good indicator of what you can get, before you need to start acquiring achievements.

I also have a recommendation in my "Starting XP" tab in Dazyk's PFO Quick Reference, here.
This set-up is class and role neutral, and is pretty useful for any starting character.
I have some questions about your Dazyk's PFO Quick Reference sheet, I notice that unlike your other sheet "PFO Exp Tables2" it doesn't have the "Read me" tab.
Do you have a separate thread when I can post my questions on your Dazyk's PFO Quick Reference sheet? I have quite a few things to ask... :)

The PFO Exp Tables are Sspitfire's creation, if memory serves.
I started a "First XP" thread here, if you'd like to ask me specific questions :)
