Alahazra's power to add Fire trait to spells - Pointless so far?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

I just looked through all the monster cards in S&S sets B, C, 1, and 2, and there are NONE that are made easier to defeat by having the Fire trait.

Is there some other use for Alahazra's power feat to add the Fire trait to her spells that I'm missing? Are we going to get monsters who are weak to Fire eventually?

Every other power I've seen in the game at least has a use, even if it's not very good. This one seems to do absolutely nothing at all.

There may be locations or other effects that grant bonuses (or even penalties) for using the Fire trait.

For example, Rise of the Runelords had The Old Light, which added 1d6 to your check if it contained the Fire trait.

In Rise of the Runelords, there were various trolls. They were undefeated unless the check to defeat had Fire or Acid. I would not be surprised if Aquatic Trolls showed up sometime around deck 4.

You might want to put that type of info in a spoiler box. Some of us don't like to look ahead...

You may play the characte n RotR, where the ability is very valuable.

I think the earliest monsters that required Fire to defeat them appeared in Runelords AD3 (Grazuul and Muck Graul). I also wouldn't be surprised if Grazuul gets reprinted in S&S AD3.

As for Alahazra's power feat, Seoni's RotR role cards had a power feat to add the Acid trait to her attack instead of Fire... how many times was that useful? I can't think of any off the top of my head (pretty sure I ticked it though!).

One of the villains in AD4 subtracted one from each die if your attack had the fire trait. Of course, I just gave Seoni non-fire spells.

I'm not as familiar with the S&S adventure path as I am with Rise of the Runelords but I'm pretty sure Grazuul doesn't appear in S&S. He's too comfy at Skull's crossing (i.e. the dam in the 3rd adventure deck). But, if you look at the last page of the S&S rule book, you can see the art for another aquatic troll. I'm sure that guy will be a villain, henchman or monster in one of the upcoming adventure deck.

A lot of the villains in AD 4 and 5 were immune to fire. Not too mention the Shining Child and a several of the outsider monsters.

To directly answer the question: No, there are currently not any situations in S&S where it is advantageous to have the fire trait.

When it was brought up before, Vic hinted that it may be relevant later on (something about ships not liking fire).

Ah, right... not being familiar at all with the RPG background, I didn't know Grazuul was a named individual. I thought the card represented "a grazuul". So yes, I expect we'll see some aquatic trolls in later adventures.

I just finished adventure 4, and have yet to encounter a single card that cared about her fire trait. Has anyone who's already completed adventure 5 run into anything? I'm getting tempted to just retcon her into having light armor proficiency; even if 5 and 6 add multiple monsters that are vulnerable to fire, with so many other non-basic non-elites that couldn't care less, I can't see this power feat being worthwhile.

For what its worth, there are monsters in S&S AP5 that care about fire.
