Where do some of the animal companion entries come from?

Scarab Sages

According to the Archives of Nythys and Hero Lab , a giant weasel is small from the first for levels before becoming the proper medium size. However, I own the Beastiary 4 and cant find the animal companion entry that lists the changes both the archives of nethys and hero lab have. Where does this come from?

Secondly, does this mean i cant ride my Cavalier mount until 4th level because my gnome cavalier's mount is small for the first few levels?

Giant Weasel: page 311 in my copy of bestiary 4, bottom of the first column to top of 2nd column.

With a standard Cavalier you can only choose a companion that is not a Pony or a Dog with your gm's express ok and it has to be suitable as a mount. A small companion doesn't fit the criteria unless you have animal archives and give it the undersized mount feat and your gm ok's it.

Scarab Sages

I have a PFS boon which expressly grants me the use of the Giant Weasel as a mount. The boon makes less and less sense given the inability to use it with more and more of the listed animals. (always sized wrong, at least to start).

You'll just be unable to ride it until it "grows up".

I think John Compton (the author of the boon) stated elsewhere that future versions of the boon would be changed or reworded to cause less confusion.

It simply means your cavalier would have to ride a pony or dog until level 4. There is a similar boon for an animal companion that's a reward for a Season 3 scenario for an animal that starts out Medium and grows Large at 4th level; I could not use that animal companion until level 4 as a Medium sized Cavalier.

I found John Compton's comment HERE.
