Channel Positive Energy....do I have to roll?

Rules Questions

Hi all,

quick dumb question-Do I as a Cleric have to make a roll to channel positive energy or does it just I opt to do and it goes off?

Thanks in advance.

It just goes off. But you have to decide whether to heal those around you or harm undead. Then roll for healing or damage.

You just do it...

There MAY be a need to roll to channel defensively
You must roll the D6's to determine effect
Undeads you try to hurt, roll a save.

Shadow Lodge

You just do it if you have the Standard Action to do so, (and holy symbol and the like), but you do roll the D6s to see how effective it is.

There is no concentration or activation check or attack roll, normallly.

Thanks for the quick replies,I was thinking that may have been the case, when I did the print preview in Hero Lab it had "Cleric Channel Positive Energy 1d6 (4/day, DC 11) (Su)"

The DC 11 part through me,I'm guessing that's what undead have to roll to mitigate damage? rather than (as you confirmed) what I have to roll for the spell to work.

Correct, the DC (difficulty check) is the number the undead are trying to meet or beat when they roll against your channel. They make it, they take half damage.
