Using LImited Wish to counterspell

Can you use Limited Wish to counterspell a spell of 6th level or lower, as if you had the spell prepared?

What about if you have "improved counterspell" feat? Limited Wish is not any specific school, but its a Limited Wish for goodness sake and I'm only suggesting that it can be used in this manner for spells 6th level and below.

FYI: I run a sorcerer with arcane bloodline.

Produce any other effect whose power level is in line with the above effects, such as a single creature automatically hitting on its next attack or taking a –7 penalty on its next saving throw.

I would say that your request is inline with the above 2 powers, but that is really a judgement call and every GM could choose to rule it differently.

If you want an argument in favor, you could theoretically use your readied action to "undo the harmful effect instantly" as it is cast.

I see no reason why it wouldn't work. On the other hand, requiring 1500 gp worth of diamonds to cast it reduces the frequency of it happening...

I'm pretty sure Limited Wish in is the Universal school.

I can't think of any reason why using Limited Wish to duplicate a spell you are trying to counterspell wouldn't work.

I have used it preemptively to prevent casters from being able to cast a specific spell, but that was in 3.5 which has a looser definition of power for Wish and Limited Wish. In that specific encounter I said the following:

"I wish that the next time [the enemy wizard] casts teleport, he will be unable to do so for the remainder of the day"

It was an epic encounter where in the enemy caster was a lich necromancer who would teleport into the room, cast a death spell, and teleport away again. Our GM ruled that this was an acceptable use of limited wish given that it had a defined time limitation (remainder of the day) and duplicated the effects of dimensional anchor.
The lich died the following round after her arrived from teleport and could not escape again with his current spell list.

True. Then again: at 14th level 1500gp is a lot, but not crippling. My sorcerer will be hauling around a load of diamond dust for Communal Stoneskin, my party's very favourite spell in the whole world. He also packs "Blood Money" for emergencies. Haven't had to use it yet - fingers crossed :) .

I mean, yes this would work by replicating the appropriate spell. It cost gold to do so and probably wont be your go to tactic.

I feel like just learning Greater Dispel Magic is a better way to go since you don't have to pay for it. Of course you have a chance to fail using it. The biggest downside of all is that you have to ready an action to counterspell, which means you're re-acting to the enemy instead of casting something to end the encounter yourself....and that's probably the biggest pitfall to counterspells in the first place.
