Chakram Modification Question

Could a Chakram be modified to have a handle in the middle like zena's from zena warrior princess's Chakram was. If so would it be considered a martial weapon or exotic weapon.

The chakram is already a martial ranged weapon that can be used as a melee weapon with some special rules.

There are no rules that allow weapon modifications but in a homegame your GM can allow it.
