Slayer and Accomplished Sneak Attacker

Rules Questions

I'm currently playing a slayer (vanilla, no archetypes) and I picked up Accomplished Sneak Attacker to help off-set the delayed sneak attack progression (1d6 every 3 levels normally). What I'm trying to figure out is does the combination of my normal progression plus that feat let me get additional dice at regular rogue speed, or am I just always +1 extra sneak attack dice?

For context, I just hit level 5 and I picked up ASA at 3rd. Here's the text of the feat:

Your strikes against a foe’s vital spots are extra deadly.

Prerequisite(s): Sneak attack class feature.

Benefit(s): Your sneak attack damage increases by 1d6. Your number of sneak attack dice cannot exceed half your character level (rounded up).

Many thanks in advance!

So the Rogue gains sneak attack dice at a rate of 1d6 per two levels, starting at level 1, to a total of 10d6 at level 19.

Slayer gains sneak attack dice at a rate of 1d6 per three levels, starting at level 3, to a total of 6d6 at level 18.

Adding an extra sneak attack die to the slayer progression would just make make your total cap 7d6 at level 18. But makes the progression go at a rate of 1d6 per 3 levels + 1d6 <= half your level.

Multiple Accomplished Sneak Attacker feats will add a d6 as a static bonus that you gain so long as your sneak attack dice never go past half level.

you can't take the same feat more then once unless it say so in the feat itself.
'Accomplished Sneak Attacker' doesn't say that ,so you can only take it once

The feat does exactly what it says. It gives you +1d6 to your sneak attack as long as the total number of dice does not exceed ½ your total level. It does not change the rate you gain dice in any way shape or form. Most of the time it is used by rogues that dip into other classes to keep their sneak attack at full. Other classes that get sneak attack can take the feat as well.

Like any other feat it can only be taken once.

Ah, I completely misunderstood the interaction with the class feature. Thanks all for setting me straight. I do wonder why they didn't allow you to take it multiple times if it only ever gives you 1 extra sneak attack die?

Yeah I misread it. It's just a bonus die, to slightly boost up a slow scaling sneak attack, or to top off a preexisting one. And I missed that there's no special feature in the feat for taking it more than once, my bad.

If you're wanting to maximize SnA die for a Slayer, take Accomplished SnA for the +1d6, but also take a trait like Dangerously Curious to give yourself UMD skill check and get a Wand of Sense Vitals, which will stack with your SnA die from Slayer, and it will allow your SnA die to go past the normal "cannot exceed half your level" rule.

You can also use Sap Adept/Master and a bludgeoning weapon to deal double your SnA dmg (albeit at non-lethal dmg).

I think VMC cavalier with order of the blossom would end up getting you full SA on a Slayer

The feat was designed for a multiclassed rogue who is going into a prestige class like Arcane Trickster. Many of these classes require a dip in one class or another so that normally means your sneak attack progression is slower than normal. The feat allows it to keep pace with a straight rogue.

It also allows it you to only dip a single level of rogue if the prestige class requires 2d6 sneak attack. With the feat a Wizard can become an Arcane Trickster at 5th level. They take 1 level of rogue 3 levels of Wizard and Accomplished Sneak Attack and only lose a single caster level. Without the feat they need 3 levels of rogue to qualify. They also have about the same sneak attack progression as a straight rogue.

If you are going to use VMC why not just go VMC rogue and get Trap Finding, Evasion and Uncanny Dodge as well?
