Interest check 40k Inquisitor and Space marine combined

Recruitment

Some time ago we discussed a game in my group where you would play both acolyte and space marine, in different times though. The space marine game would be set a couple of thousand years before the acolyte game and events would be linked. Our initial thoughts where Deathwatch and acolytes of and Ordo Xenos inquisitor but it could also be done with Greyknights and Ordo Malleus. Let me know what your thoughts are.

In regards to mechanics I am open to either point buy or rolling, I am leaning most towards points buy.

Note three things if I do run the game
1. My knowledge of the 40k setting isn't good. I know some but have some rather large holes.

2. My posting is somewhat change sometimes 2-3 times a day other 2-3 days apart depending on my work. I am not always able to tell in advance.

3. I expect any players to post within 1 day after my last post.

I'd be interested, but I only have the Deathwatch book currently.

That is not a problem at first. We will begin with a Deathwatch game and then follow with the Dark Heresy.

Silver Crusade

as long as I may be a lib. I am down :3

It is fine by me, but expect to face more than just combat.

I wouldn't mind rolling a character. How long do you expect the campaigns to be?

Interested and have both books. Would you be looking for both characters to be linked in some way?

interested, got all the books, so no problem.

You could do a buy-in or let people choose the roll, some people enjoy rolling everything randomly. I'm fine either way, sometimes people give 12 rolls, keep the best 9, something like that...

If you want to link the characters it is fine with me but not required.

It seems we have some interest. What do you prefer Ordo Xenos or Malleus?

I would probably lean to order xenos, so that we have more flexibility with regards to chapters. Grey Knights are cool, but they would all be very much on one path. Different chapters, gives more group diversity and different approaches (admittedly with a little conflict). Don't mind on the roll vs point buy, but i guess i lean towards rolling.

So
Xenos: 1
Malleus: 0

And the general consensus seems to be the option between point buy or rolling.

I think point buy would work better and create more balanced party members.

Is this still a possibility?

It would be cool, but this place seems to have an unusual number of people creating threads for 40k, especially weird alternate ones, and then nothing after people show interest.

To be honest my impression was that not much interest was shown besides the two of you. If you are up for it I'll write up recruitment and then see how many applies. I'll be honest if it is only two or three then I won't run it.

I'd say give it a try, I think its great you're still around and props if you atleast try. If people are interested great, if not enough, then no harm no foul. I'd like to see where you take it, so count me in if you decide to write something up.

All right I don't have time today to do a descent write-up but to get thoughts and dice rolling I am looking for Deathwatch marines (Ordo Xenos)for the first segment which will be a short mission focussing mainly on combat. I have most books but prefer core and use the errata. Your options are point buy 110 points or rolling 12x 2d10, discarding 3 sets and placing them in you preferred order.

Fellowship 30 + 14 44 4

Basic stats pre chapter I'll try to get something together in a day or so.

I am not sure what to make of this, are you waiting for me to add a write-up or should we just end it here?

Hey,

Sorry, I had forgotten about this, I'll throw down my rolls and hopefully we get a few more bites. I was thinking there would be a write up, missed your info for PC creation.

Weapon Skill 30 + 10
Ballistic Skill 30 + 10
Strength 30 + 10
Toughness 30 + 20
Agility 30 + 20
Intelligence 30 + 20
Perception 30 + 10
Willpower 30 + 10
Fellowship 30

What chapters/books are we limited to? Starting xp as per book? Standard creation?

I've got a basic Dark Angel Librarian drawn up, was waiting to see if there were other folks interested/involved.

Apologies I'll drop it here for review if you want me to.

I'm interested if this is still going, I would start with a Space Wolf techmarine, but I'm not sure of a concept for the acolyte.

Figured this had died and so haven't checked back for a while. Still interested. I would like to go for a space wolf long fang, but also interested in a salamander devastator if the book arrives in time :)

Crazy week at work. It seems like we have enough to begin something more organized.

I was thinking standard creation save stat generation described above.

A century and a half has past since the first the 41st millennium began and once again the ruinous force of Chaos has plunged the imperium of man into war. The Gothic War or the 12th Black Crusade as it is called has diverted most of the fighting forces of the loyalists to combat this threat.

Serving a tour of duty with the Deathwatch, you are stationed in the Segmentum Obscurus, not in the Gothic Sector, but so close you can almost feel the conflict that has claimed lives among your chapter brothers, but yours is now the duty to protect man against the vile xenos.

Wounds: 1d5 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
Fate: 1d10 ⇒ 7
Power Armor History: 1d10 ⇒ 6

"Reporting as assigned, combat patrol, Segmentum Obscurus."

Wounds: 1d5 ⇒ 4
fate: 1d10 ⇒ 2
Power armour: 1d10 ⇒ 6

I'm interested!

Almost finished

I'm interested in the Inquisitor game (see profile)

I'd have to back off 4 wounds and Rapid Reload, but she is still ready

Still interested...see profile for stats
