Merging APs

Pathfinder Adventure Path General Discussion

I've seen threads where people have merged Rise and Shattered Star...

Has anyone tried merging any of the others?

My players seem to want a very long campaign, so i was thinking cut some of the superfluous encounters and link some APs together...but i can't think how to do it.

The APs are all designed to go low level to high level so going from one to another doesn't seem feasible.

Maybe i should just throw in some side quests and modules...

There are tons of modules that are out there which can be inserted into any AP, lots of PFS scenarios and then the companion books outline tons of different plot hooks and side quests that can be fleshed out... the problem is that, unless tied in to some degree or other, they might end up distracting from the storyline rather than enhancing it.

The only other complimentary merging of AP's that I've seen up to this point was Skull n' Shackles with parts of Serpent's Skull or vice versa but that took a fair bit of work.

Liberty's Edge

In addition to what SA stated above, Legendary Games has created AP Plug-Ins, which include adventures that are designed to be inserted in specific Paizo APs. Sometimes by the very authors of some of the AP's parts :-)

You can level them at the slow rate or just ignore the XP chart altogether. You still have to think of why two AP's are connected, but it stops you from having to rebuild monsters or make your own.

I can't find these. Could you provide a link to one of them? I did find their other products.

You can also continue the campaign from the end of whichever AP you ran and go on to the second half (or third) of Wrath of the Righteous. Given that you can likely run WotR as a non-Mythic campaign, it doesn't even require incorporating Mythic rules - just have your non-Mythic heroes recruited after the Mythic Heroes failed and died (or were turned).

This could even allow for past-20 leveling (and just not allow any one specific class level past 20, or continue spellcasting levels past 20 in the case of Prestige classes) - at least one person in the WotR forum mentioned running the game to level 25 (basically having every even Mythic Tier be an extra level).

Oooh, i like that idea.

Rise and Shattered Star merged are excellent ideas. Running those two campaigns past level 20, even mythic levels is a great game experience. It requires some serious modification, but overall can be done and can definitely make for a LONG and intense game.

Which is why I kinda like doing WotR after the previous AP ends - you don't need to modify all that much! ^^;;

Slight tangent, but as it's rolling out, does Iron Gods (first book at least) look to play nice with Kingmaker?
Shattered Star, given it's intended to follow Rise, Curse and Second Darkness, would probably make a nice follow on for any of those, really.

Bonus points to anyone who does the leg work to make an AP spanning all 4 APs. :P

It seems like it could work. What you could do is actually increase the level of technology within the Kingdom of Pitax, even going so far as to recharge Irovetti's weapons with Silverdisks.
