I recently come to fin out that the "guild" I've joined will be starting in "evil" territory. As someone likely to play a good aligned character how much should this concern me? How will this affect game play?
For example, will my band of heros find ourselves fighting our way out of territory to go harvesting or adventuring?
Thanks for your thoughts.

The rep system will discourage the neighbors from just randomly ganking your gathers.
I suspect you WILL have a problem in the War of the Towers though if you are an island in the middle of an Evil aligned alliance.
One interesting thing about the current political map is the Evil aligned settlements have chosen to set up mid map rather than close to Fort Inevitable.

I'm going to guess you're an Iron Gauntlet, and thus border Golgotha? You might want to open negotiations with Duffy at Hope's End, and martryn or omnipotentseal at Canis Castrum, as they're near-neighbours of yours and have formed the Aeonian League already. Hardly anyone turns down additional members at this point :-).
Possibly needless to say: Everbloom and the Highlanders would be glad to talk to you as well; geography is not so important as a friend.

Thanks for recommendation, Jazz. The Everbloom Alliance and Free Highlanders settlements are also cool folks. :)
@Crazyriver,
I'm omnipotentseal from Canis Castrum. We are a Lawful Neutral settlement. Currently we are sponsoring martyrn's Carrion Corps and always interested in working with new companies/groups. Please PM me if you have any questions about our settlement, your settlement's location, and PFO politics in general. You can PM martryn about his company too.

@ Crazyriver
A more detailed answer. All theory here. Keep that in mind.
Ways to engage in reputation penalty free PVP will not be in at the start of EE. They will be solving that problem (for the PVP hungry) with the War of Towers. Basically each day the towers that you control will go up for grabs for an amount of time. The time is relative and increases the more towers that you control. The more towers that your settlement controls, the higher level of skills you can train and support.
Because you also need a minimum reputation score to live in a settlement and train skills, some believe that there will be minimal PVP ganking outside of the conflicts for towers. Killing (PVP) outside of tower fights will cost lots of reputation points.
For the first 6 months (or so) you might not have too much conflict outside of those fights for towers.

And Sunholm, talk to Kadere above something involving Sunholm! ;)

Evil in PFO, and in Pathfinder overall, is a little more nuanced than many realize. Just because we worship devils and raise zombies doesn't necessarily have to mean that we're bad neighbors.
If you're concerned about living near Golgotha or our other settlements in the Empire of Xeilias, I'd definitely encourage you to come visit our forums at Xeilias.com and find out that we're actually not that hard to get along with.

To be honest Lawful Evil can be quite trustworthy. A good character may not approve of what they do but you can trust that if they say they will do it then they will do it. If they make an alliance then LE should stick to the letter of it until they find a valid legal loophole to get out of it.
Chaotic on the other hand can be a worry ...

...with no particular hope of success.
*puts on the Marketing Hat*
Hmmm, now if you, also, were to have some friendly chats with your friends and neighbours in the Aeonian League...*mumble*doubling size, greater geographic reach, more nearby Settlements to add than anywhere else*mumble*...perhaps your hopes would become particular!
*removes the Hat with a flourish*
Thank You, and Good Night!

Aeonian League! *jazz hands*
If you have any questions about this open, multi-alignment alliance, please PM the Aeonian Scribe. I do not speak for the League as a whole.

EoX will not be looking for loopholes around agreements to suit our needs. If we sign an agreement we will stick to the letter as well as the spirit of the agreement signed. Our word is our bond, so if the agreement disadvantages us enough the correct response is to not sign it at all.
I agree that your summation could be true of Lawful Evil generally, I just wanted to clarify the position of the empire in respect to that statement.
