Checking math on PFS AP GM credit

So I Gm'd the first Chapter of Rise of the Runelords, Burnt Offerings.

The chronicle says for normal advancement 4,800 (Tier 3-5). It also contains "Items found during this scenario," and the normal list of purchasable items.

As a GM, I know I can apply this to an existing PFS character levels 3-5. If I apply it to a level 1-2, that character must wait until level 3 to apply. Can it be applied to a level 7 character?

Besides applying it to different levels, does the full amount of gold go to the character, too? How about the "items found?"

Dark Archive

You can apply it to any character within range(3-5), or a character below the range, but they don't get anything until they level into the range.

The character you apply it to gets everything on the sheet that's applical for their level, including items found, and also including anything that might have been missed by the PC's that actually played it.

The only thing you don't get is a Day Job Roll.

Not entirely true. You can also apply it to a level 1 character and get 3xp, 4Fame/PP, 1398gp, and the item access and boons and get all of that right away.

If you apply it to a level 1-2 character and want to wait til 3 to get the full benefits, thats fine also.

I've got a ton of GM AP credits. To get the best bang for your buck I'd recommend applying it at the lowest level possible (3 in this case). You're going to be PA starved on a character raised on APs and modules so you might as well have some money.

Just providing a citation to back up Seth.

Pg 38, left column, last paragraph, first sentence: "A GM may apply credit for running a scenario, module, or Adventure Path in any of the same ways a player can, and must follow the same rules as a player when applying credit to a character."

To give a direct answer to the one question nobody's mentioned, no, you cannot apply it to a level 7 under any circumstances.

I thought that was just for playing Pregens. GM's can do it with modules too?

I was under the impression that you could only apply a Chronicle to a 1st level character if you *played* as a pregen or in a Campaign Mode Adventure Path. I couldn't find where it says a GM can choose the "apply to an out-of-tier Chronicle" option to a level 1. The rational I've had is that you don't have near as much risk in applying credit to a level 1 as a GM as you would playing a pregen.

If there's a rule I'm missing though, I'd be interested to hear it.

To reiterate what Sammy T said.

Looks like the citation from page 38 clarified the ruling for out of tier chronicles to add GM credit as well allowing for the option to apply to a brand new level one character with the gold reduced to 500 for a scenario and 1398 for a module.

As Sammy stated and Dylos reiterated, yes, the GM can do this. The GM can do all of the exact same things a player can with their credit now, which was updated, thankfully, with the updated Guide.

Slight correction: the character does not have to be brand new. It just has to be level 1.

Cool. That could have been helpful for a few things I ran last season... but no big deal. At least a GM now has the right to do what a player does!
