How can it use commune if it can't speak?

If used as a familiar, how could it's master use it's commune?

Commune doesn't specify how the communication with the diety takes place. You can make it telepathy for the poor eye without unbalancing anything, imo.

The answers are usually yes or no, so you just need to tell it in common to move up-and-down for yes and side-to-side for no.
