Faction Change Question

Pathfinder Society

Been attempting to find the answer to this question myself, however so far I have failed to find anything. I have a 8th level Aasimar with the Andoran faction and as the faction is now retired I'm curious as to what happens to my prestige points? Do they just disappear or get transferred over?

Technically the faction is not retired, merely altered. As long as you stay with Liberty's Edge, everything remains the same. If you use your free one-time change to go to another faction, you keep your prestige, but Andoran-specific vanities will no longer be useable.

Your prestige POINTS and fame points are unaffected. This we know for sure.

If you stay with andoran----> liberties edge NOTHING changes.

If you go andoran--- Darkchive we're not sure on what happens.

Thanks guys, that helps a lot. I'll finish updating my characters tomorrow.

Wasn't it stated that you kept vanities etc if you used the free change?

If it was, and someone can link to it, that would be a great help. My recollection is that it was stated there would be a free faction change, and the details would come later. Now we have the details, but they haven't cleared things up. My reading of the guide was that faction prestige awards and vanities don't carry over if you switch to different faction (not the faction yours turned into, as that is not a change of faction by you). I completely understand where others are coming from, and I agree that the impression was, based on what happened with Lantern Lodge and Shadow Lodge, that faction specific vanities and prestige awards would carry over.

The issue to me is that the only place that it says that they do carry over is in the section about faction retirement. But it's unclear whether this qualifies as faction retirement, since the information about the free change isn't in that section.

I want everything to carry over and nothing to be taken away from anyone if they change from Osirion to Dark Archives, for example. I'm just not sure from reading the guide that that is the case. I'm not sure that it isn't, either, so BigNorseWolf has the right of it for the moment. His first two points are clearly true from what I've read. What happens when you change factions isn't clear, so I wouldn't mark anyone's chronicles up, and I'd say if you can wait to make the change, that's probably the safer thing to do. Hopefully after GenCon John or Mike will have time to clarify.

In the guide you keep everything for a faction retirement, but not a change. Its not quite clear which this is.

I see it this way.

It is stated that you qualify for season 5 boons from andoran with liberty's edge and so on.

Where is it stated? Under the retired factions topic.

Why is it stated there? Because you normally don't qualify for retired faction boons.

So they are officialy retired IMO.

Does it make sense to you?

Why then a free change for all players?

To give grand lodge and silver players the chance to change as well into the new factions.

Looking up what has been said I believe it is a faction retirement.

The only factions that have been retired are Shadow Lodge and Lantern Lodge. That needs to be clear I feel

This season is basically name changes to be more representative on the direction the factions have taken over the last few seasons away from being nation aligned to more of an ideal/goal aligned.

Well, since you cannot earn sczarni boons from season 5 anymore, at least sczarni is retired for sure.
