PFS Gnome Summoner (Core+APG)

Advice

I really like summoners, but I'm having trouble making one I'm completely happy with. My first attempt was fine power-wise, but a bit bland. I'm thinking of remaking into a gnome linguist using Gift of Tongues and Magical Linguist. But I'm having trouble finding much use for Magical Linguist as a summoner. Is there something I'm missing?

On a seperate note, I'm not sure if I want to stick with my current quadraped to use as a mount. Power-wise, quad seems a lot better, but I'm starting to really like the idea of my Eidolon being an overworked secretary type, which would really require biped.

Any thoughts? I'm thinking I can deal with being a bit weak power-wise, if the character is more fun, but I'd like to have both.

The save bonus from Magical Linguist is useful, but that is about it as far as I'm concerned. Then again -- how useful are the alternatives? If it fits your theme, you may as well stick with it here.

The best things to make a character interesting aren't statted out on a character sheet.

Come up with an interesting personality and role play it. My characters are almost always eccentric as I find that more interesting. Nothing on the character sheet says "eccentric" though.

I've built power gaming characters many a time…

And yet none have been as satisfying as my Halfling Fighter who's entire life was dedicated to proving himself to the more fighter oriented races. And then again, maybe I went a bit off the deep end.

But I digress,

Build a character that will be fun to play. And sometimes challenging is very fun. That secretary idea sounds hilarious. I've never actually considered "Humanizing" my Eidolon.

Go for it!

And who says a secretary can't be a Quadruped Mount? That'll be quite a riot to see an overworked, busy mutant just trying to get good benefits and put food on the table
