how do you go about with home brewed Diseases & Conditions?

Kingmaker

i been trying to go about making my king maker game more interasting by adapting real world fronter disesases & conditions to the pathfinder sysem. i had colds, poison oak, dysentery (before all my players screamed "HELL NO!!!!!" at the sametime)just having trouble thinking of penalties besides a -2 to attack rolls and damage rolls

tips anyone?

Penalties to skill checks, armor class, concentration checks, saves, etc. Research the disease and see what fits best. I'm sure there's some d20 resources that cover those afflictions. Also, a link to the Pathfinder SRD page on diseases.

More than any sane GM could ask for... ;-p

cool, quick question, if your players told you not to have dysentery and do so anyway is it a dick move?

The whole blood-in-stool thing is touchy for people--I'd invent a disease that was less "invasive". Ultimately, you're just looking for things to challenge the characters and hazards for them to overcome, so I'd just use something else to avoid alienating your players.

true, duo they kind of get piss with the poison oak, and flaming wisp (duo the flaming wisps were more there fault as they set there hive on fire and the wisps as well) so what do you think makes a good challenging but fair disease

Mosquitoes with ghoul fever.

This is a thing I have done :)

Bluespit has a fairly low DC (14), doesn't add a second condition, and comes with a fun visual. And since it's airborne, bluespit's a good tool to use when you want the party a bit on edge and paranoid. It says "avian" in the entry, but use it wherever you need and just change the flavor.
