Hello all,
Just trying to clarify if the Axe Beak Companion Boon from
It states "If you posses a class feature which permits you to take an animal companion or a mount that progresses as an animal companion, you may add the Axe Beak to your list of legal and available companions".
I want to make sure that this would apply to the Lunar Oracle "Primal Companion" mystery.
Thanks for the help.

The slightly longer answer is... it depends.
Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Bestiary 3
Animal Companions (p. 311): antelope, archelon, axe beak, baluchitherium, basilosaurus, dimetrodon, elk, giant chameleon, giant gecko, giant vulture, iguanodon, kangaroo, megalania, pachycephalosaurus, spinosaurus, thylacine; Familiars: all familiars listed on pages 112-113 and the carbuncle and sprite; Feats: none of the feats are legal for play for PCs, animal companions, or familiars unless specifically granted by another legal source; Other: all creatures in this book are legal for polymorph effects (including a druid's wild shape ability) within the boundaries of each spell or ability's parameters.
So the Axe Beak is a legal 'Animal Companion' choice.
The benefit of this particular boon is that it adds the Axe Beak to 'limited' animal companion/mount lists (such as that of the Primal/Lunar oracle mysteries, or the ranger animal companion list).
I hope that helps! :-)

Ahhh, I get it. So this applies to paladins and cavaliers too, I assume. Probably wasn't going to play one of those anyways so that's all right.

we're doing CORE qfp 1-3 at our local con this weekend and I'm wondering if the axebeak would be considered a legal animal companion for a ranger once s/he hits lvl 4
I have visions of a dual-wielding ranger flanking with his enlarged axebeak to kick butt and am hoping that they can be a reality

Ah, I didn't realize that quote wasn't from the most recent AR.
Here's what it says now for anyone else that was confused.
