Magus and Light spell

Rules Questions

Can a magus use a light spell with spell combat? It only targets objects, so perhaps it would only work on armored foes?

If this works, it's better than using Arcane Mark to spellstrike, as you can essentially 'faerie fire' an opponent (no save).

I couldn't locate an answer.

You can use it with spell combat.

You can only use touch spells with spell strike, but light is a touch spell. The problem is that you have to target an object, so you'd be forced to use the sunder combat maneuver if you wish to have the extra attack.

You can perform a sunder with spellstrike?

Any time you would make a melee attack, you can replace it with a sunder.

Yup. Or a trip, or a disarm. That's usually it.

Using light with spellstrike wouldn't really work like faerie fire. It would prevent the target from having concealment due to darkness, but wouldn't outline them or do anything about invisibility.

Scarab Sages

Light would tell you which square an invisible opponent occupied.

The 50% miss chance for concealment would remain.

It would allow you to locate what square they are reasonably in.
