Spoils for Conquering a Town?

Kingmaker

I am wondering if there is anywhere that talks about what the "loot" is for your army marching into a town, defeating their defenses, and then just pillaging then moving on.

If there is not a set rule on this have any of you come up with a system? How would you handle it? And how would different size Cities effect the time it would take to ransack and the amount the PCs army could find?

Thank you

Hmmm ... I think that on one level, there's not going to be a whole heck of a lot of usable treasure, as it were, as soldiers pillage and take choice bits for themselves. If I wanted to give it flavor, I'd stat a "CR" for the city based on its number of developed blocks, then run the whole schmeear through Donjon's treasure generator. If in in the mood to keep things moving, I'd go with something like 1d6 BP that can immediately be spent to reduce the army's Consumption (pillaging the city's stores) OR increase Morale (treasure!! treasure for the masses!!)

I agree with pennywit, & would that, if it's the army doing the pillaging
& pundering...does it matter...?
You only really have to worry about what the PCs or main NPCs might lay their
greedy little fingers on...
In that case, all you'd need to do perhaps is work out what would normally
be available for purchase, plus what any captured folk have & bingo, there's
some treasure.

Pennywit's 1d6 sounds like the best route to me.
Moreover pillage and rite of war is to say the least very dark and murky roleplaying atmosphere. I would consider bringing that up to at least the goodly and just party members, they may want to consider their options. As civ games have taught us: annex and puppet governments are excellent choices.
I guess the question is: are your PCs ready to destroy innocents lives to further their military power.

One thing, you'll note that my 1d6 BP idea was limited to reducing the army's Consumption OR increasing morale, not carting it back to your home treasury. That's because BP are kind of an abstract thing. BP don't just represent gold. They represent grain from the granary, metal from the forges, horseshoes from the blacksmith, ale from the tavern, and the labor to make those resources useful.

In line with Gustav suggested, you might want to look at the Vassalage edict from the UC rules.
