Paid a visit to the newly opened Total Wine and More yesterday. I used to visit one of those when I lived in Philly. They have an excellent selection of beers, usually a couple thousand. This one was missing some favorites of mine, but I still had a good haul. And, apparently, they are taking recommendations.

Out for my morning constitutional, and a thought occurred to me: How awesome it would be to have a sequel to the movie PCU. You could bring back the original cast and call it PCW (as in "World"). There sure is enough crap for them to work with these days.
Sadly, I don't think anyone in Hollywood would have the balls to make such a movie.

We left the gate at the top of the stairs open last night, and plan to take the gate down later today. This will allow the boy to not bother calling out to us (and waking his sister up) early in the morning when he wants to come downstairs.
Of course, now we just have to make sure he learns it's not okay to come downstairs at 2 am to sleep on the sofa.

Going to be a busy week.
I'm hoping to get some s+~# cleaned out and/or packed up and stored in the attic. That'll likely necessitate a visit to Lowe's for a sheet of plywood or two. I lay them across the joists in my garage attic (same way my dad did) so that I have more room stack things.
Tomorrow I'll vote and we've got parent/teacher conference for the boy in the morning. As well, I'll be watching my brother's three kids tomorrow afternoon while he and his wife go to the same parent/teacher conference event for their two oldest.
The remainder of the week will be filled with the usual - job hunting, household chores, etc.
I'm even tempted to try and fit in another viewing of Doctor Strange along the way.....

My boy is doing pretty good in school, according to his teacher. She says he's really good at math, which I was hoping for. The only spots he needs work on are penmanship (alas, he inherited the Abercrombie bad-writing curse) and reading (mostly in being able to relay stories back and discuss various literary elements).

The Martian was a good movie, agreed.
HAven't read the book yet,
My teenage daughter particularly enjoyed it.
Not surprising, since she has been to Space Camp 3 times and loved it. She wants to go back again, but that stuff aint cheap.
She is also in the soon to be released (I thought it would have been out by now?!?) Documentary that they filmed the last time she was at Space Camp.
It is called "The Mars Generation" and it is all about how this generation will be the ones that actually go to Mars. They filmed the majority of it at her session of Space Camp, and liked her group because they were having the most fun and being loud and interactive.
IE= Interesting stuff to film. ;)
If you get to watch it, Look for the teenage girl with the extremely long blonde hair, and probably being silly or singing broadway show tunes. That'll be her. :)

Is your daughter thinking of a career in science or engineering?

I was talking to a buddy of mine back in Philadelphia, and found out one of my former co-workers is getting a promotion to a position in Sasebo, Japan. So I called the guy up and congratulated him. He's a good kid, a great engineer, and a hard worker.
Plus, he gets to go live in Japan. If I were single, I'd have jumped all over that.
