Player's Handbook II wrote:
If you succeed in using Tumble to avoid an opponent's attack of opportunity, you gain a +4 bonus on the next attack that you make against that foe as long as the attack occurs before the end of your current turn.

All of the other feats in the PHB II are quite specific in that they provide either a bonus to "attack rolls", to "damage rolls" or to both. This feat provides a bonus to an "attack"; but is this an "attack action" (hence providing a bonus to both hit and damage) or an "attack roll" that is being referred to in this instance?

Sovereign Court

This would be two separate actions. 1 to tumble (move) one to attack either as your standard this round or next.

You misunderstood my question; I wish to know whether the RAW provides a bonus solely to attack rolls or to both attack and damage rolls.

This sounds interesting, since I have a rogue with a high acrobatics skill so where did you find this? Is it a feat of some sort? I can't find it at all.

It's a feat from the Player's Handbook II.

Traditionally, saying just "+4 bonus on the next attack" means on the attack roll. Of course, the PHB2 is not a Pathfinder official book, so the best we can do here is guess.

OK, thanks. That accounts for it, I've been searching in Pathfinder sources and this is an extension to 3.5. Is it even part of Pathfinder officially? Or just something your local DM would have to allow?

No it is not offical Pathfinder material and your GM would have to approve it. However, Ultimate Combat has this which is similar:

Disorienting Maneuver
Source Ultimate Combat pg. 1 (Amazon)
Your erratic movements disorient your opponent.

Prerequisites: Dodge, Acrobatics 5 ranks.

Benefit: If you successfully use Acrobatics to tumble through an opponent’s space, you gain a +2 circumstance bonus on attack rolls against that opponent until the start of your next turn. If you choose to make a trip attempt against that opponent, you gain a +4 circumstance bonus on your combat maneuver check. This bonus on trip also lasts until the start of your next turn.

Generally, "bonus on attack" means just the attack roll. They almost always say "bonus on attack and damage" when they mean both.

On the plus side, this looks like an untyped bonus to attack, so that makes it stack with everything.

OK, then if your DM has to approve it anyway, just ask them for a ruling. Looks like it would be a bonus to the attack roll if it were official. :)

It's not a Paizo / Pathfinder source in any way. It was written for 3.5. If a GM chooses to allow it, he should be consulted on how it functions within his game.

Thanks.
