My orignal thought was storybased. The PC was has the sciencetific desire to improve things and explore the make up of the universe. He came across ring that gave him powers and he is trying to figure out by science where the magic comes from.
Mechanicallly I loved the idea of the witch being able to hurl bombs and mutate. Imagine a flying bomb thrower!

Play an alchemist, call yourself a witch. The character classes are not the strict names in the game that they are in real life
Stressing this very hard.
Alchemists can go from a crazy bat-swinging drug junkie through stealthy anatomists with scalpels through grenade lobbing pyromaniacs through your friendly neighbourhood pharmacist.
With archetypes and ideas, I think that almost every concept of a character could be made with an alchemist.
BRB making thread about how every character concept could be made with an alchemist.

if you "love it weird" you can make a Vivisectionist/Witch and then Arcane Trickster! But you need a way to learn Magic Hand.
i make something like that by use Vivisectionist/Wizard... Spellslinger! yes it's weird... but very fun to play! Scrollmaster is another nice combo, cause you can use weapon and shield make with your scrolls, and make them finessable too! Have fun...

...Multiclassing spellcasters is almost always a bad idea...
+1 to this, by multiclassing two spellcasting classes you are slowing your progression in both classes. Also, it makes it a hell of a lot more complicated to play, which is not recommended before having a certain level of mastery of the system.
Multiclassing for a Witch is even worse since you are slowing your spell progression and you are lowering your Hex DC since those are based on Witch levels.
As the others have said, Alchemist can cover your whole concept on its own.
