Race Weapon Proficiency vs Class Weapon Proficiency?

Rules Questions

I'm a little confused with the Pathfinder Corebook's system in weapon proficiency. Are Race's weapon proficiency still applicable to any class? Say, I want to be an Elf Wizard. The Elf is proficient in Longsword, can I still wield a Longsword as a Wizard? Please let me know ASAP! Thanks!

of course. There is nothing in the wizard class that prohibits you using a longsword and the rules don't care where the proficiency came from just that you are proficient.

Racial weapon proficiencies (weapon familiarity) work in two different ways. Where the ability makes you proficient, you have proficiency regardless of your class. Where it allows you to treat the item as a martial weapon, you must get proficiency with martial weapons or with that specific martial weapon from a class ability or feat.

THANK YOU, everyone! I appreciate it! Cheers!
