How am i supposed to do this? Not really prepared because My minions(players) placed velrina in jail and went on their way. I know that in the book that its going to replace her for generic baddy, however, I player her as a heartless Smooth talking devil. how should i Rp this into the story?

I personally would have her executed by the officials in Wati. Have it done publicly as a show of that violations are took seriously.

I also would do this just prior to the meeting to auction goods. Probably carried out in the market.

When the players fight their way out into the streets after all hell breaks loose, have them find the body gone from wherever she was executed at.

A hanging would be idea or a beheading and have her be headless in the next meeting.

Oh this has given be inspiration if my party pulls this trick....

this is how it went down:

I portrayed her as an evil, yet sweetalking demon of a woman, whos lust for knowledge made her do unspeakable acts.

i introduced a late comer to my group by having my group meet up with their group, Velrina unconscious and the party member with 0 str due to wormrot(or some other disease. azaz and khelru expressed their concern to the party about her whereabouts last night and found both of them unconscious with litters of destroyed undead everywhere.

Also, I had her sweat talk her way out of a fight with the mad-dogs because she was caught trying to place a sedative in one of their drinks to grab their charts.

lastly, i made Khlru and azaz Temperarly break up, due to misinformation that Velrina gave to each of them, and the pcs got them back together, learning that she was the one who misdirected both of them.


If you dont want her executed, not to much a problem. In Empty Graved you have Encounter E (Page 19). So whats happens is that the old judge took care of her. Just add more blood, remove a dead Velriana corps, and remove an eye from the Event 5....DONE :)


When I run Mummy's Mask in October (look out for the after action report), I plan on keeping most of the Scorched Hand alive/around for the duration of the whole AP.

If you use Velriana as a recurring villain, it shouldn't be too hard to get her out of jail. I mean, Wati is in the grip of a zombie apocalyse. Some undead guys wander into the building where she's being held, kill the guards, one of whom falls conveniently close to her cell door, she nabs the kety and escapes once the coast is clear.

Ta-daa! :D

EDIT: Or do as WindSpirit suggests and have her in the clutches of Old Eyetaker. You don't have to kill her, just remove an eyeball and have the heroes waltz in just in time to rescue her (or not). Give them an opportunity to redeem the smooth talking villain, or suggest that this a possibility before using her to stab them in the back. Maybe she seeks out and allies with Nebta-Khufre to steal his necromantic secrets.

have her be a one-eyed Revenant among the corpses
