A Dream of Mars: Green Martians

Product Discussion

"Native to the dead seas of Mars, green martians are towering, four-armed humanoids who eke out a tribal lifestyle in the forsaken landscape of the dying planet. Green of skin, these aliens resemble extremely tall men with second torsos atop their normal ones, complete with a second pair of arms."

That's right. We are diving into the world of Edgar Rice Burroughs' seminal science fiction work to bring you all a taste of our "A Dream of Mars" product line.
Our first product, "Green Martians" is going to feature the savage species themselves- right from the pages of the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs.

The products covers the basic statistics of a green martian, the basic ways of life on the savage world of Mars, and outlines some basic rules for the setting.
We have a lot more material written up and would love to work on more but we wanted to get a read on how this product is going to be received before we dedicate ourselves to a larger product.

Oh yeah, and we have the AMAZING Jack Holiday (Dragon Tiger Ox) providing artwork for this product. Seriously, take a gander at this if you were not already sold.
We're not messing around on this product.

Disclaimer
As a disclaimer, we are working only with material found in the public domain within the United States. We will be region locking this product due to the fact that not all of this series is in the public domain in other countries. For copyright reason the following terms will not be appearing within the product: JOHN CARTER; JOHN CARTER OF MARS; JOHN CARTER, WARLORD OF MARS; PRINCESS OF MARS; DEJAH THORIS; TARS TARKAS; BARSOOM; GODS OF MARS; and WARLORD OF MARS (as they are trademarked). Furthermore, this work is not endorsed by the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs (though we did correspond with them regarding this).

What about THARK or WARHOON?

Those are the trademarked terms they have reserved.

Is this going to be for the Necropunk setting or setting generic?

Setting generic. It is potentially it's own campaign setting.

So, any hints about what be next?

In terms of this line of products or in general?

For A Dream of Mars I'd like to do a primer on the world with key locations, more extensive campaign rules, other races ("earthings", red martians, etc) and more of a bestiary. Provided we meet our profit goal we might break it down into smaller books (putting them together would make a full campaign setting).

In terms of general "what is coming out next"?
We have our "gonzo class" book, the Necropunk APG, an extensive underdark book (with some AMAZING art), a non-traditional race book, and a few other goodies :-)

I find myself torn on buying A Dream of Mars: Green Martians. It’s loading into my DTRPG shopping-cart okay, so it seems the region-lock hasn’t come down properly yet. :-S

I mean, I’d dearly like to get it/give you my NZ$1.15, and probably could... but I have no idea of the ERB material’s status out here in New Zealand, and I’d rather not get you jokers in trouble with Burroughs’ estate by buying it out-of-area. :-(

It shouldn't let you. Let me look into.
A fellow kiwi asked a message in the comments there and it looks like he couldn't buy it.

Just picked this up. As a 20+ year fan of the source materials! I'm hoping to see more Mars products! One question, is there any chance at seeing some sort of hero lab support?

That is awesome to hear :-)

We have not done Hero Lab in the past (we don't use it ourselves and don't have the know-how) but it is not completely out of the question in the future.

While you're at it, LRGG, could you talk to WotC about a Magic: The Gathering campaign setting? There is SO much want for this! The Phyrexians would work well with some of your necrotech stuff from Necropunk, assuming it was reskinned as technomagical! ^_^

If only. That would be a fantastic one. (I actually liked the Brother's War book most but doing the Phyrexians would be fun)

Got a contact at WoTC? ;-)

My friend TSP's friend has major connections at WotC, including being personal friends with the top-ranked tournament judge, knowing almost every member of the MtG department personally, and knowing a few people who have worked on D&D! So... sort of?

Well have them shoot us a message? ScottGladstein@LittleRedGoblinGames.com

I could see if TSP, Matt, could get his other buddy, also called Matt, to contact you. If it works, can I haz free copy pleaz? 8)
