tangletooth, how does closing resolve?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

We last night did the scenario were we ran into tangletooth, which makes each character encounter tangletooth, if anyone fails, she is undefeated, I am the one that flipped over the encounter, but I really didn't wanna try and make the check for the closing, wasn't a good chance, so that's where i got to thinking of how would the immediately attempt to close text work, the other players don't summon a copy or anything, they legit encounter tangletooth herself with how the card reads, so I wondered if that meant all players who encountered her, if tangletooth ended defeated, they all could maybe make the when closing check, or at least one of them choose, i overall ruled it that the person that encountered the card would still be the only one to be able to make the closing check, because the immediately close text happens after you decide whether the card is defeated or not, which is after the other characters have fought the encounter, so was my ruling correct?

The person that originally encountered the henchman must be the one to attempt the closing if the henchman is defeated. If everyone doesn't defeat Tangletooth, she is undefeated.

That is how I would read it.

Yeah, it is still that person's turn no matter how the Tangletooth encounter works, thus that person is the only one that can permanently close a location. No one else can ever permanently close a location on someone else's turn (the swallowtail festival is the only exception in the rare circumstance where you reveal the henchman as the card to acquire/defeat to close it as a temp closing attempt).
