I have never participated in any PFS stuff before so i signed up for a PFS event #6-01 Trial by Machine at GenCon this year...i just want to fully understand the leveling up of characters correctly before i sign up for anymore...when i finish that specific scenario i will only receive 1xp for that scenario correct? Or is there any difference with the scenarios at GenCon? Thanks :)

Welcome to the Society, Beltias! Before you go, you should check the free download the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play. This will show how to create your character and how they progress.
In short, yes, each PFS scenario awards 1xp. Your character levels every 3xp. Each character starts at level 1 with 0xp.

You recieve 1 xp for that scenario. You need 3 xp to level up.
(most modules will give you 3 xp)
Your character is infinitely malleable until he is played at 2nd level. You can re adjust stats, traits, race, class... you can either tweak it till your hearts content or just say "to heck with wizards i'm going barbarian"

I know its probably telling you something that you already know, but make sure you have a look at the Additional Resources document.
Some things in society don't work exactly as written, for example: no crafting, so alchemists get extra bombs feat instead of brew potion feat.
