Help with a Bird / Man class or race!

Homebrew and House Rules

Hey all,
I am interested in making a class or a race or discovering a pre-existing build or what have you that focuses around the character's ability to change in to a bird.

I am visualizing a fighter-type character who has an alternate form of a bird or the ability to change in to one, powered either by his race or class.

I was hoping that he would have this power/ability at a lower level.

Is there anything remotely similar to this?

Be a Human (or Half-elf, or Half-orc, or Aasimar Scion of Humanity).

Take the feat: Racial Heritage (Tengu)

Take the feat: Tengu Wings

Take the feat: Tengu Raven Form.

So it won't happen until 7th level, but doing it this way allows you to be of any class, even pure Fighter.

I suggest you look at Skinwalkers and use Werebat-kin as a basis for what you want.

Silver Crusade

Two places to look:

A Druid can Wildshape into a bird starting at 4th level.

A Cleric or Inquisitor with the Feather domain has an affinity for birds, can Fly especially well, and can have a bird as a companion.

Both those approaches make good fighter-types.

Shadow Lodge

A Tengu can take things to go from being 1/2bird, to being a large-nosed human, to a large raven.

As has been said, A Druid can use Wildshape to accomplish this, eventually all day long. Eagle Shaman lets you have a bit of extra effect with this, and can make you into a Huge-sized Roc.

I suppose you could also make a Beastmorph Alchemist who uses his Beastform Mutagen to make him bird-like.

Syrinx and Strix are both bird people races with natural fly speed if you don't mind not transforming. Though with +2 Wis and -2 Dex, the owl-like Syrinx aren't the best chassis to build a fighter off of.

The Beastmorph Alchemist's mutagen causes him to look more like a type of animal (which for you could be a bird). You can pick up Fly at 6th level.

What's your rule question partner?

(psst, it's his first post, so I just flagged it for the Advice Forum and figured a moderator would handle it)

I appreciate the answers!
I think the skinwalker is most similar to what I want. Would anyone have any input for what a "were-Bird" might look like on paper?

Perhaps different abilities for different species of birds?

Also I apologize if i've put this in an
inappropriate forum!

It's cool bro.

The Racial Heritage trick works with Aasimar as well.

Aasimar can even have bird-like features, like feathers for hair, and whatnot.
