Ok so Im playing a monk in a home game. Even though I don't like Neg stats. I did drop my CHA to 8 cause you know, monks are MAD. Monks also don't get Diplomacy as a class skill. I would like to chat up some NPC's for RP reason. Not trying to get any game mechanic advantage. What are some ways I can develop relationships with NPC's without needing a Diplomacy check?
My DM is fairly lenient. So if I come with some good ideas im sure he will roll with it. I just have to avoid him saying "ok, Make a Diplomacy check."

there are traits that allow you to use simply logic to make a diplo check (int) something that would suit a monk very much.
If the npc your chatting up is for example also a socially less able monk, you may gain circumstance bonuses because your basically speaking the same language.
lastly, you may simply offer to help the npc to get their attitude up. getting an attitude to helpful or friendly by being such is perfectly acceptable. (think helping out with their station or profession or helping out family with problems etc)

Diplomacy is needed to change the initial attitude of an NPC in a short period of time. You can develop great relationships with NPCs without using Diplomacy. If you're chatting up an NPC for RP reasons, you shouldn't need to use Diplomacy (though it might make building a relationship easier — not the same thing). And I would say that any DM who uses Diplomacy rolls in lieu of actual RP for developing relationships with NPCs is not doing his players justice.
If you don't have Diplomacy high, and want to build good relationships with NPCs who start out Unfriendly (or even Hostile) to you, try to find other ways to improve their opinion of you. It just may take time and actions, rather than talking prettily for a minute or two.

This train of thought is what im looking for. Also, Tips and suggestions for how do go about it like Diekssus gave.
Thanks, Anything else I should know. Other tips. Just brainstorming here.
EDIT: Character is level 3, So I already have my Traits. I guess I could take Additional Traits for my level 5 feat. But I would rather not burn a feat for it.
