Simple question that came up while discussing the future of my first Pathfinder Society character. Can a barbarian multiclassed with the archaeologist bard archetype from ultimate combat activate the luck ability that replaces bardic performance while in a rage? The ability states that it is treated as bardic performance for 'feats, abilities, and effects that affect bardic performance' and I don't think a raging barbarian can normally start performing. But, archaeologists luck is a swift action that isn't tied to a skill.

Well, there is some argument that the key buff performances aren't tied to a skill either, but back to the main point: yes, it does appear that the luck ability is fine for a raging barbarian.
And it seems like a decent idea, since the luck bonuses go to your saves as well (along with the usual benefits of multiclassing in something that has good saves in everything you don't).
You will want to take the lingering performance feat though. It has performances (and luck, in this case) last for 2 rounds after you stop performing. So, if you use a round of luck, stop, and let it linger, you can get 3 effective rounds from that one spent. With a modest investment in 14 CHA, you get 18 effective rounds per day. Enough to last most of ever fight. If you don't want CHA or feel 18 isn't enough, then extra performance gives 6 rounds (which means 18 MORE effective rounds.
You will also want the fate's favored trait- this adds +1 to luck bonuses, meaning that your 1 level dip gives you +2 to attack, damage, saves, and skills. It is practically another rage ability early on (that, again, stacks with rage)
Overall, it needs some investment...but hey, more damage and save bonuses. Because barbarians need as much help as they can get to become DPS tanks....
