FAQ we decided in the game.... grapple:

Rules Questions

in our group we had some issues with grapple... som here is the Q&A we decided. non is supported in the roles.
opinions?

• Grab and grapple and attacks:
take tiger, that has grab on claw*2+bite. there is no open topic on what happen on round 2+, but round 1 is not clear.
the tiger attack first with a bite ---> grab lead to free action grapple >> he win.
both the tiger and the opponent now have graple condition.
Q1: can a tiger continue to attack with claw *2 ?
A1: although grapple normally is a standard action, since grab is a free action, and under grapple condition one can attack with natural weapons, the tiger can continue to attack

grapple and reach:
under grapple roles:
" If you successfully grapple a creature that is not adjacent to you, move that creature to an adjacent open space (if no space is available, yourgrapple fails)."
Q2: is that movement provoke AOO ?
A2: there is NOTHING in the roles.DM role that, like other manuervers. the movement is too fast and WONT provoke AOO, not even with a greater feat.
Q3: can you choose to which square to move the foe?
A3: sort of. you CAN choose where gto put the foe with several conditions. :
• as long as the squere is on the ground - you can choose the squere - as long as there is a way to it.
• if you, the grappler, is sorrounded, and there is no way through, then the grapple will fail
• if you want to move opponenmt to mid air - he get a free grapplekwith +4 to let go & you need to have enough str to lift target.
Q4: can you move it to a place that is risky to him?
A4yes, but he get a free way out with +4
" If you attempt to place your foe in a hazardous location, such as in a wall of fire or over a pit, the target receives a free attempt to break yourgrapple with a +4 bonus."

Greater grapple on round 1:
Q5: can you use standard to grapple (or grab) and than use greater grapple as the remaining move action to pin ?
A5: yes, we already talked on it - and thats what the maneuver was meant to do.... i put it here as a reminder.

Q1: Yes. The free grapple does not end the tigers turn, it gets to continue its attacks for that turn with both it and the defender having the grappled condition.

Q2: No. Unless an ability specifically states that forced movement provokes an AoO it does not. (See greater bull rush for an example).

Q3: This is not defined in the rules so far as I am aware. Personally I play it as most direct line to be adjacent to the grappler. If multiple choices exist that are the same distance then grappler may choose.

Q4: Yes, based on my view of Q3.

Q5: Yes. If you have a creature grappled you can use a move action to maintain the grapple to move/harm/pin the opponent.

thanks.
greater grapple is amazing.
