I believe there are specific boons you get if you don't take any of the prestiege classes. Not all are available for selection. If you take the prestiege classes different ones are available, but you can't select between them. However, this material is new and I haven't looked over it closely yet.

If you don't have a prestige class you always get exalted. I think it says it in the Obedience Feat.
Deific Obedience "If you have no levels in one of these prestige classes, you gain the boons marked as exalted boons"
