I Just had a thought.
Would Zatsa have only seen guards as she was sneaking through the lumber yards or would she have seen employees as well? Im not sure if Lumber Yards would shut down during the evening and night.
Also thanks for the well wishes and to you as well, though I'm Canadian so real thanksgiving was last month.
;)

Zatsa Seastar |

Hmm, alright. I wasn't sure if they would care enough about the difficulty of cutting at night and embrace an attitude of ''always more workers.''
Do lumber workers have any kind of uniform? I have a plan (though its a little half-cocked and definitely hair-brained) but, it probably is doomed to failure if employees have a uniform.

DM Alaion |

The thugs have a sort of uniform but the workers do not. Still the thugs know how the workers act around them and can tell them apart from normal citizens of the city, otherwise they would be pretty useless guards.
So if your going to attempt to fool them or disguise yourself, be forewarned. Alot of thugs are stupid, but their not idiots you know. ;P

Okay so obviously I have to start by apologizing by absolutely vanishing into a thin air for the last few months. I think I mentioned my surgery off-hand before I had it? It went very weirdly considering it was supposed to be smaller and less evasive then the same surgery i had two years ago, but it was infinitely more painful and debilitating. It laid me low and I really was not expecting it. Coupled with that, having my hours decimated at both of my jobs and then the weirdness of my first christmas without my grandmother and I just kind of fell apart for a few months. Im back though (I realize Ive said this before) but its for real this time. New year new me (except its the same me but less flaky hopefully.)
Im not sure if you've given up on me, though I hope you haven't. And one way or another I hope you had a nice christmas.

Zatsa Seastar |

I forgot to mention, Teiidae mentioned to me the other day that he also is still into this game but he took our grandmothers' passing harder than i did. I think he's going through somekind of quarter life crisis or something. The last time we spoke he talked about buying a car well outside of his price range or something to that effect.

DM Alaion |

Sorry to hear all that. My holidays were not a simple matter ether.
I'm willing to move forward but you may get some delays sense I may have lost some stuff for this game and will have to find or create new stuff.
As for Teiidae, he will have to shoot me a PM. Paizo retired the game due to inactivity and I don't want to bring it back if he is not interested. Which should not be a problem if what you said holds true. ;)

Zatsa Seastar |

Did you see those rolls?!? There is not a chance anything is going to go my way for the following nine posts. Just you wait.
Also in case there is any confusion, when I talk about stones that her rope if wrapped around, Im imagining the wall as you might see in a Medieval castle. Stone blocks that alternate between stone and large spaces, so archers and lookouts can duck behind but still see down.

Zatsa Seastar |

I don'y think the subject came up yet, but the people who are training and employing me are the gray corsairs branch of the eagle Knights, correct?

DM Alaion |

The Gray Corsairs are a sub-branch of the Steel Falcons branch of the Eagle Knights. But I think it would be more precise to say that the people you are dealing with would be Twilight Talons. The Eagle Knights have three branch's not counting their subbranch and their is some over lap and cross over. But the short version is your working with the Eagle Knights.

Zatsa Seastar |

I knew it had to be some branch of Eagle knights. I was not sure which though. The stealthiness of my current mission sounded like the twilight talons but the eventual naval/corsair feel screamed Gray corsairs. Plus I think the trait you gave me is the GC trait.

Zatsa Seastar |

That's all I got. Considering the reason for my detection was a climb check I never got to roll and a poor stealth check, I think I basically made wise decisions.

Zatsa Seastar |

See I was worried there when you said Doom, but I realized I misheard you and you actually said adventure.

Zatsa Seastar |

I think the only thing Zatsa needs is a tent. But that can be done anywhere, so I don't think we need to stop.

Zatsa Seastar |

So as we move on, level three is approaching and I've began to think about what my next few levels might be and whether or not I might like to multiclass or work towards a prestige class at some point.
While reading through and considering different combos I remembered Variant Multi classing. Now as per RAW, VMC needs to be selected at level 1 (or at character creation anyway) but with a couple of exceptions no class actually gains or losses anything until level 3. So would you allow to retroactively select a VMC? I'm still not 100% sure I want too. (I have in the past but usually as classes that get bonus feats)
The two that i was most strongly considering are Magus and Rogue. Rogue fits quite well but Magus slightly less so.

Zatsa Seastar |

Sweet. Gotta say though, PrC hurt in this game. They're all so bad and there are so dew of them compared to 3.5. And the few that are good force me to give up spellcasting, my performances or both.

DM Alaion |

Pathfinder rewards single classes concerning spellcasters or specialist. If your a melee or range type then you have some leeway. Unless your playing to really high levels and are willing to wait for the full benefits. Like eldritch knight which allows you to have access to 9th level spells and wear full plate but only around end game is it really viable.

Zatsa Seastar |

Yeah I know that. Its just a shame because, I like (some) multiclassing and I've always loved prestige classes. I keep finding ones that seem cool. Like Ive looked at all of the eagle knight PrCs and all of them are super flavorful and I'd love to play them, but again, Bard.

Zatsa Seastar |

Nah dervish bard is pretty sweet. Plus I don't like class level retraining. You tell me that you can retrain a feat or learn a new spell o can wrap my head around that. But you're gonna tell me you retrained two levels of wizard, the first of which is meant to be years and years of training? I can't suspend my disbelief.

Zatsa Seastar |

You remind me of my first DM. He didn't act or speak like a god but we built him up into one. If memory serves, Every time he stepped up to the table I would stand and demand that the whole whole table 'arose for the honorable lord Bob.'

Zatsa Seastar |

Yeah I figured it was something like that. The only things I want to buy in Almas are a tent and a couple of wrist sheaths. Plus sell whatever goods I nabbed from the dead Hob. Soho think we can skip any interactions in Almas unless there is something important to take place there. I can roll diplomacy checks here or in my next post if needs be.

Zatsa Seastar |

If I wanted to improve an armored coat, would you rule it needs to be made of mithral or would darkleaf cloth suffice? The metal is what grants the protection and yet the coat is primarily a large leather coat with metal studs, the bulk of it is clearly the leather.
I can see arguments for either.

DM Alaion |

I would argue that the protection of an armored coat comes from the metal plates sewn inside the lining. Not the leather that holds it, at least not any more than a wooden hilt has bearing on a metal sword's sharpness. So short version is treat it as metal.
You may be thinking of Studded Leather Armor by your description. An armored coat does not have any metal studs, at least none that I can see from the pic in the book.

Zatsa Seastar |

In my head you ignore the picture of the armored coat. An armored coat in my head is something Robb halford would wear.

Zatsa Seastar |

Gather info to find the right merchant and of course diplomacy to try and haggle those prices down.
By the way I never really sat down and planned out her father's personality. He was a seafaring man and he encouraged her to spend some years wandering and seeing the world as a mercenary. He's superstitious, like any good seaman and is kind of a miserable old bastard, though still a good man. I think he's a large part of the reason Zatsa has so much pride (the apple doesn't always fall far, even from another tree) and probably resents that his daughter gave up lucrative mercenary work to sing and dance in a bar, because she wanted to be close to home and take care of him since he was too ill and lost his own var as a result. (Haven't decided if it closed down or was bought by someone else)
That's kind of as far as I ever got.

DM Alaion |

More like your going up against a port city's merchants whose only job is being good at buying and selling. Not to mention this port city is also a capital city in a free trade nation that breeds competition while stifling monopolies. Discounts are not going to be easy, but you shouldn't be overcharged as easy by the same token.
Natural 1's notwithstanding.

Zatsa Seastar |

I wanted a spring loaded wrist sheath for each arm. I was gonna buy a tent too but it seems like we'll be on ship for a while so it can wait.
So just the sheaths, 10 gold.

Zatsa Seastar |

While searching for the price of Spring-loaded wrist sheaths I found a few things on Nethys which either don't appear on the SRD or are categorized differently. I would like to update my shopping trip to the following:
Two spring-loaded wrist sheaths
Two spring-loaded scroll cases
1 Scroll box
2 Bandoliers
and 1 water proof bag.
Total cost: 26 gold and 5 silver.
Ive updated my character sheet but Im putting stars next to the new items, let me know if there is anything I would not have found and I'll remove them.
Also if you ever take a glance at my character sheet in order to understand how and where I carry anything (just in case, though no one else does in my experience) everything after my bag, is meant to be in or strapped to my bag. In fact in any given section (I break it up into parts) Anything that follows some kind of container is usually meant to be in that container (for example I list potions and and flasks after Bandoliers.)
The exception is weapons, they are always listed at the top, though they may appear twice if one is loaded in a wrist sheath or something. If so I don't add the weight a second time so you can telli its the same dagger as above.

Zatsa Seastar |

I found all of it on the srd except the spring loaded scroll case. If it's on the srd I have no idea where they categorized it.
