Deitys weapon bite attack and Instrument of Faith = DR 15 vs bites ?

Rules Questions

Can you use the hierophant instrument of faith ability to get DR vs bites-after all bites seem to be the most consistently worrying attack.

Instrument of Faith (Su): You gain DR 15/— against attacks made with your deity's favored weapon.

If your deity's favored weapon is a bite, then yes that would work.

To my knowledge, no deity has bite as a favored weapon.

For example, a hierophant of Erastil would gain DR 15/- versus longbows (and composite longbows) only. Not against shortbows or crossbows or anything else.

A hierophant of Torag would gain DR 15/- against attacks by warhammers and only warhammers.

To my knowledge no deity has bite as a favored weapon, so you cannot accomplish your goal. And it's likely you already have a deity, which you can't really change.

There's Apsu who's favored weapons are Bite or Quarterstaff. Also there's the evil dragon god Dahak who has Bite or Whip for his favored weapons.

Interesting, Golariopedia lists it as breath weapon though it's not truly important. If you can find reasons why your character would worship the lawful good god of dragons, and creator of the multiverse then I don't really see a problem with it. Realistically though, Apsu isn't involved with the going's on of Golarion, I'm don't believe Apsu has a large following due to his lack of involvement.

In the Inner Sea Gods book that just came out last month, Apsu is listed as Bite or Quaterstaff. I could see a professional Dragon Hunter worshiping Apsu for protection while defending people from evil dragons. May want to take a read through the Dragonslayer's Handbook if you want to go that route.

I remember bahamet in 3.5 had a favored bite. Being the most powerful god and epitomizing good, evil hunting and ruler-ship made worship as an adventurer pretty easy really.

Yea, in the default Pathfinder setting Iomedae covers as the core LG medieval chivalry deity. Apsu's far from weak and is an expy of DnD Bahamaut right down to the rivalry with Tiamat. Apsu just doesn't have much of a background or a foothold in Golarion mainly because of marketing reasons.

Apsu -
One of the oldest gods of the Great Beyond.

One of the two original creator beings of the multiverse.

The coolest home of all the gods the 'Immortal Ambulatory'.

Whose portfolio is glory, leadership, and peace.

Really easy to worship, perfect for the centerpiece go to guy of any mythic party.
