Avoid two ranged attacks per round?

Rules Questions

Say you were an alchemist with either extra arm or tentacle discovery
in one hand you have a crossbow, one hand is empty, the extra hand/tentacle is holding the shield.
If you have the deflect arrow and missile shield feats could you then deflect 2 ranged attacks per round that would have hit you?

Missile shield:
Missile Shield (Combat)

You are skilled at deflecting ranged attacks with your shield.

Prerequisites: Dex 13, Shield Focus.

Benefit: You must be using a light, heavy, or tower shield to use this feat. Once per round when you would normally be hit with an attack from a ranged weapon (not including spell effects, natural attacks, or massive ranged weapons), you may deflect it so that you take no damage, as if you had the Deflect Arrows feat. You must be aware of the attack and not flat-footed.

Deflect arrows:
Deflect Arrows (Combat)

You can knock arrows and other projectiles off course, preventing them from hitting you.

Prerequisites: Dex 13, Improved Unarmed Strike.

Benefit: You must have at least one hand free (holding nothing) to use this feat. Once per round when you would normally be hit with an attack from a ranged weapon, you may deflect it so that you take no damage from it. You must be aware of the attack and not flat-footed. Attempting to deflect a ranged attack doesn't count as an action. Unusually massive ranged weapons (such as boulders or ballista bolts) and ranged attacks generated by natural attacks or spell effects can't be deflected.

I would say the two can't be used together since missile shield specifically says "as if you had the Deflect Arrows feat". In my view that phrase means that missile shield is a replacement for deflect arrows, except that a shield is used instead of a body part.

Hmm. Wouldn't "as if you had deflect arrows feat" be regarding the way the feat works? i.e. saving the time of saying "Attempting to deflect a ranged attack doesn't count as an action. Unusually massive ranged weapons (such as boulders or ballista bolts) and ranged attacks generated by natural attacks or spell effects can't be deflected." all over again?

Scarab Sages

Considering the huge level of feat and class investment needed to set this combo up, I'm inclined to let it work. It still doesn't work against massive projectiles, natural attacks, or spells, and it wont help much against a volley of several shooters.

You get two deflects from different sources. There isn't an action cost to them.

I don't think so since the Shield Missile feat already repeats much of the Deflect Arrows feat. If "as if you had the Deflect Arrows feat" was put in just to incorporate wording, it would have been simpler to word Missile Shield by saying:

"You gain the same benefits as Deflect Arrows except that you must be using a light, heavy, or tower shield to use this feat."
