Counterspelling with Bonded Object

So, the key problem with counterspelling as a wizard/magus, is needing to have the exact spell being counterspelled prepared. Arcane Bond allows essentially spontaneous casting of a single spell. I could not find any clarification anywhere that stated this spontaneous spell slot could be used for a counterspell. Any opinions on this? The conflict is such:

Arcane Bond (Ex or Sp) wrote:
A bonded object can be used once per day to cast any one spell that the wizard has in his spellbook and is capable of casting, even if the spell is not prepared. This spell is treated like any other spell cast by the wizard, including casting time, duration, and other effects dependent on the wizard's level. This spell cannot be modified by metamagic feats or other abilities. The bonded object cannot be used to cast spells from the wizard's opposition schools (see arcane school).

A spell-like ability takes the same amount of time to complete as the spell that it mimics (usually 1 standard action) unless otherwise stated. Spell-like abilities cannot be used to counterspell, nor can they be counterspelled.

So, Arcane Bond is listed as (Ex or Sp), does that mean the cast spell is actually a spell-like ability, and not a cast spell? If that is the case, it seems it can't be used as a counterspell. That just sounds like a needless restriction, as coutnerspelling already is so tough and rare to begin with.

Since the Arcane Bond specifically states "This spell is treated like any other spell cast by the wizard, including casting time, duration, and other effects dependent on the wizard's level", I see no reason to treat it as a spell like ability. Specific trumps general.
