Druid / Ranger and animal companions.

Rules Questions

If I was a level 5 ranger and level 2 druid could I chose to have 2 animal companions? or would I be stuck with 1 pet?

This kind of goes further into a gestalt question.

Quote:
•Class features that two classes share (such as uncanny dodge) accrue at the rate of the faster class.

This means that sneak attack from rogue and ninja don't stack.

But, an ability with different pools (such as channel for a paladin/cleric) work fine.

So, does ranger/druid give you 2 pets?

Scarab Sages

Gestalt isn't really a core rules thing, so it's probably going to depend on GM. I'd probably say no, they get the better advancing pet, so instead just grab the Hunter's Bond option that allows you to share FE & FT with all your teammates.

I've always ruled and seen it ruled as if the current ac advances, you don't get 2. Could be wrong but that's how I've seen it done for years so just kind of assumed it did.

Silver Crusade

If this is not a Gestalt question, but just multiclassing, if the animal companion is on both lists, you would have one companion and the levels would stack.

So I would have to take the beast master and/or pack lord archetypes to get multiple pets?

If I took either of them would I be able to split the levels any way I want? Example. I'm a level 10 ranger/1 druid pack master archetype, Could I have 1 pet using 4 levels and the other using the other 4? Or does it have to be a level 7 and a level 1?

You are gestalt? It depends on the exact order you level your classes.

not in this example, just multiclassing. Shouldn't matter what order...
